Кандидат в шерифы Питер Кулидж был допрошен после убийства любовницы в 2014 году

Police report shows DuPage sheriff candidate Peter Coolidge was interviewed after 2014 killing of alleged jail nurse mistress DuPage County sheriff candidate Peter Coolidge was interviewed by detectives with the Aurora Police Department two days after the 2014 strangulation death of DuPage County jail nurse Heather Jacobi, with whom he was allegedly having an affair, according to an Aurora Police Department report obtained by the DuPage Policy Journal. The March 30, 2014, interview took place at the DuPage County Sheriff's Office after Aurora detectives attended Jacobi's autopsy at the DuPage County Coroner's Office. "Det. Thompson and I had previously departed from the autopsy that was conducted on Heather at the DuPage Co. Coroner's Office," the report states. Detectives questioned Coolidge "in reference to his relationship with Heather Jacobi," according to the report.. “After we interviewed Dep. [REDACTED] he agreed to screen shot his Facebook messaging between him and Heather and send them to my work e-mail address,” the report states. “He also agreed to provide a taped statement which was recorded on DuPage Co.'s in-house surveillance system.” The substantive summary of Coolidge's interview was redacted. The report says the Facebook screenshots initially failed to reach the detective by email, but another detective later photographed the messages. The report also details the events leading to Jacobi's death and the investigation of her former boyfriend, Jose Loera. According to the report, Loera arrived at Jacobi's residence at about 7 p.m. March 28, 2014. The couple had discussed going to dinner, but Jacobi ultimately decided to stay home. Loera reported that earlier that evening, they had been hugging and kissing and had planned to move in together. Loera later told police that Jacobi said she would not move in with him and planned to sign a lease elsewhere. While they were sitting on the couch, Jacobi received a Facebook message that read, "good night beautiful." Loera responded, "What the fuck are you talking to [REDACTED] for? That dude's a loser." The sender was identified as Coolidge, who worked alongside Jacobi at the DuPage County Jail. Coolidge was married to his then-wife, Elizabeth Coolidge, at the time. Loera took Jacobi's phone and saw a message from another deputy reading, "Where's my hug and kiss." "What the fuck, you're talking to [REDACTED] too?" Loera said, according to the report. Jacobi denied having a relationship with the man, according to the report. Loera told police he recognized the sender because he knew the phone number, which was not saved under a name in Jacobi's phone. The report says Loera had searched Jacobi's phone for terms including "babe" and "baby" and had previously accessed her Verizon account to block the deputy's number. When Loera began looking through Jacobi's phone, she "popped up," according to his account. He told investigators, "If you've got nothing to hide, you've got nothing to worry about." Loera said Jacobi "kinda pushed" him and kicked at a window beside the fireplace. When an officer asked why she would do so, Loera replied, "like she was going to jump out the window, I guess." The report states that Loera continued looking through Jacobi's phone as the two stood near the dining room. Jacobi pushed him and kicked at the window again. Loera told police he then "just fricking snapped" and grabbed Jacobi "by the fucking scarf." According to the report, Jacobi's hands eventually went limp. Loera said he continued choking her with the scarf for "a couple minutes, seemed like a fricking eternity." After pulling it away, he heard Jacobi exhale. Loera told investigators he splashed water on Jacobi's head in an attempt to revive her. He then used her stethoscope, initially thinking he heard a heartbeat before concluding that the sound was caused by his own shaking. According to the report, Loera shook Jacobi's leg and told her, "I'm sorry I did this." Loera told investigators he "was like fuck man, I killed her." Later in the interview, Loera told police he attempted to give Jacobi mouth-to-mouth resuscitation after she was no longer moving. He described the effort as a "vague" attempt and said he "cuddled up" with Jacobi after washing his face. Before leaving, Loera covered Jacobi with a black blanket with a floral print. He kissed her and said, "don't worry baby, I'll be there in a little bit." He then took medication and Jacobi’s cellphone from her home and left the residence. According to the report, Loera used Jacobi's phone after returning home to communicate with men she had been corresponding with, including Coolidge. He told investigators he wanted to get one of the men in trouble and sent "hey baby" from Jacobi's phone. The report says Loera later texted one of the men with whom she’d been communicating, "let me see your dick," and received a photograph in response. Loera then commented on the photograph from texting about “how small it was” from Jacobi's phone. Loera returned to his home after the killing and took pills in an apparent suicide attempt, prosecutors said. He was transported to Rush-Copley Medical Center and later taken into custody. Prosecutors said he confessed to the killing. The report also recounts an earlier confrontation between Loera and Jacobi. Upon his arrest Loera told investigators that in the previous incident Jacobi had hidden her cellphone while texting another man. After taking the phone, he said he saw a photograph of "some guy's dick." Loera told police he became angry, hit Jacobi and choked her. According to the report, Loera initially choked Jacobi for five seconds before stopping. He then choked her again. When she appeared to be losing consciousness, he released her. Loera estimated that the second episode lasted "about forty seconds" and said Jacobi was "out of it." He also told police he slapped her. The report states that Loera said the earlier incident had occurred the previous year and that a police report had been made. Prosecutors later provided additional details about the killing. At a bond hearing, Assistant State's Attorney Tim Diamond said Jacobi clawed at Loera’s face during the struggle, leaving scratch marks. At the time, Loera was on probation for the previous domestic battery involving Jacobi. Prosecutors said she had obtained an order of protection against him in February 2013 following the previous incident of domestic abuse. Loera also had been charged with domestic battery after allegedly pulling Jacobi's hair and with criminal damage to property after allegedly using a rock to damage the vehicle of a male friend of Jacobi's. On the day of the killing, Loera appeared in court seeking to modify the protective order to allow contact with Jacobi. The order was amended to permit contact while prohibiting "harmful or offensive contact with her." Jacobi's mother asked police to check on her the morning following her death.  After Jacobi failed to report for work, officers returned to her apartment and found her dead, with the knotted scarf still around her neck. Jacobi, 32, was the mother of three children and had worked as a nurse at the DuPage County jail for approximately 18 months. Because of her employment at the jail, Loera was held at the Kendall County Jail following his arrest for his safety, according to prosecutors. He later pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and was sentenced to 48 years in prison. At his 2016 plea hearing, prosecutors said he became enraged after discovering Jacobi was exchanging text messages and social-media communications with other men. He admitted he was set off by the "Good night beautiful" message. Coolidge and his then-wife Elizabeth Coolidge divorced in 2015, the year after Jacobi's death.  He subsequently married Jennifer Coolidge, with the marriage publicly celebrated in December 2025. The 2014 investigation is not the only incident involving Coolidge and a woman to draw scrutiny. In 2018, Winfield police investigated a harassment complaint involving a woman, also a nurse, who said Coolidge repeatedly contacted her through text messages and Facebook after she had asked him to stop. According to records obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request, the woman later found a card signed by Coolidge inside a plastic bag on the windshield of her vehicle. She contacted the Winfield Police and said she wanted no further contact with him but declined to pursue criminal charges. The police officer called Coolidge to inform him of the woman’s request but received no response. The officer later encountered Coolidge while he was working security at the DuPage County Courthouse and reiterated that the woman wanted no contact. According to the report, Coolidge acknowledged the warning and said he would not contact her again. The incident was classified as harassment and ultimately closed without further action. Coolidge also is a defendant in a federal civil lawsuit stemming from his time with the Sheriff's Office. The lawsuit includes allegations of excessive force, including an allegation that he slammed a man's head into the ground while taking him down. Coolidge spent 28 years with the DuPage County Sheriff's Office after joining in 1996, working in corrections, law enforcement and courthouse administration before retiring in February 2024 amid the federal use-of-force lawsuit. He is now seeking to become DuPage County sheriff and was unopposed in the Democratic primary. Republican Sean Noonan, an Oakbrook Terrace police officer and former DuPage County Board member, is his opponent in the Nov. 3 general election.
