Pembroke college dedicates bench in Jamie Bramburger’s honour Memorial bench at Algonquin College's Pembroke Campus honours Jamie Bramburger's lasting impact on students and Ottawa Valley community Article content Algonquin College's Pembroke Campus has dedicated a memorial bench in honour of longtime community builder, educator, author, and broadcaster Jamie Bramburger. Located along the campus waterfront overlooking the Ottawa River, the bench serves as a place for reflection while celebrating Bramburger's lasting impact on students, colleagues, Algonquin College, and the broader Ottawa Valley community. Recommended Videos Bramburger was a passionate champion of education, community development, storytelling, and lifelong learning. Throughout his career, he helped strengthen partnerships, create opportunities for students, and promote the Pembroke Campus and region. The memorial bench was created by members of the campus community. The tree used to create the bench was selected by Adam Johns, Carpentry and Renovation Techniques coordinator and Peter Arbour, Forestry Technician coordinator. It was handcrafted into a bench by Johns and completed with a commemorative plaque installed by Paul Hammel and Matthew Taylor, Carpentry professors. The plaque reads in part: "Jamie leaves a legacy of connection, compassion, and enduring impact." The bench overlooks one of Bramburger's favourite places on campus. According to the college, he often spoke of the beauty of the waterfront setting and enjoyed taking time to walk along the river and appreciate the natural surroundings. The Pembroke Campus said in a press release it hopes the bench will provide students, employees, and visitors with an opportunity to learn about Bramburger's contributions and reflect on the positive difference one person can make in a community.
