Paul Alois Goeb Paul Goeb (Duluth) is finally at peace after a long battle with dementia. He passed on July 4, 2026, just two weeks short of his 81st birthday, at the Veteran’s Home in Silver Bay, MN. He was born on July 18, 1945, in the small town of St Michael, MN to Leander Goeb and Sophie (Jaeb) Goeb. After growing up in St. Michael, MN as the middle child of 11, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served stateside during the Vietnam War teaching radio repair. After returning home in 1968, he married his high school sweetheart Annette (Gutzwiller) Goeb. In 1970, the couple moved to Duluth with their infant daughter Kelly, where Paul started a construction business with his brother. Shortly afterwards, they welcomed their second daughter, Stacy, to the family.  Paul loved spending time with his family. He coached his daughters in bowling, and eventually started teaching others how to coach. Paul served on the Duluth Area Board of Bowling Directors for 14 years, 7 as president. He was named YABA (Youth Area Bowling Association) National Coach of the Year in 1999 and was inducted into the USBC (United States Bowling Congress) Hall of Fame in 2004. Later in life, he managed Stadium Lanes and the Pro Shop. He enjoyed fishing and coaching softball, and loved spending time with his grandkids. He took many fishing trips to Northern Minnesota, Canada, and Alaska with his buddies, where he was well known for his “Blue Max Special” and helping with projects at the lodge. He could always conjure a story to tell (mostly) based on true facts, and could build whatever was asked of him. He will be deeply missed.  He is survived by his daughters, Kelly Goeb (Shawn Bode) of Moose Lake and Stacy Johnson of Duluth; his grandchildren, Ally, Aaron, Janna, and Reese Bode, and Gage and Kielly Johnson; siblings John (Mary), Ron (Marlene), Alice (Fred Vetsch), Ruth (Richard) Lehn, William, and Sue (Aro) Mattila. He was preceded in death by his wife Anny Goeb; parents, Leander and Sophia; siblings Mary (Don) Lindenfelser, Helen Haus, Robert, and Carl. A very special thanks to the Veteran’s Home staff in Silver Bay for loving and caring for him during his dementia journey. Another big thanks to St. Croix Hospice for their loving care during his final days.
