Pathways to Peace hosts first Peace Barbeque of the month Rochester, N.Y. — Community members are firing up the grills in several city neighborhoods as part of an effort to build connections and curb youth violence. The first Peace Barbeque of the season took place Thursday evening at Avenue D and Conkey Avenue. Members of the Pathways to Peace outreach team were serving dinners and cleaning up sidewalks while working to build positive relationships aimed at reducing youth violence. "It's an opportunity to be in a space that's free of debris sometimes but also free to clear your mind and to relax,” said Pathways to Peace Coordinator Anthony Dixon. “A lot of people just need a sanctuary and sometimes a long walk in your neighborhood is the best medicine." Three more Peace Barbeques are scheduled to take place this month at different locations across the city.
