Parkway Drive в Сиднее: второй вечер тура Killing Horizons прошел с исполнением альбома Horizons

Sydney clearly wasn’t ready to let Parkway Drive go. After an already massive night at the Enmore Theatre, the Byron Bay heavyweights returned on Thursday 13 August for night two of their Killing Horizons tour, this time turning the clock back and playing their iconic Horizons album in full. And somehow, despite the exhaustion of the night before, Sydney’s Parkway faithful came back even hungrier. If anything, night two felt even more unhinged. The night kicked off around 6:30pm with Sydney modern metalcore outfit Heists, performing to a half-packed Enmore but bringing the kind of energy that suggested the room was already warming up for something much bigger. There is plenty to keep an eye on with this band, and they made a strong first impression. Then came hardcore outfit No Apologies, led by the absolutely relentless Peter Abordi. Abordi is the kind of frontman who doesn’t simply perform to a crowd. He gets right into it. He demands movement, feeds off the room and somehow manages to make a packed venue feel like one giant hardcore pit. At one point, a spontaneous and hilarious moshpit conga line broke out, giving Abordi another excuse to keep the chaos moving. He also took a moment to speak about the heavy music community and the importance of sticking together, particularly when life gets difficult. His message was simple: survival, unity and keeping going. And then, at around 9:20pm, the lights went down…You could feel it before you could see it. Jeff Ling’s silhouette appeared on the right side of the stage as the opening tones of “Begin” filled the Enmore. Phones and hands shot into the air, and then Winston McCall appeared. The Horizons celebration had officially begun. “The Sirens’ Song” exploded into the room and almost immediately unleashed one of the craziest circle pits we’ve seen inside the Enmore Theatre. Beach balls and inflatable floaties flew through the air as the crowd transformed the venue into something that looked part metal show, part absolute summer chaos. This was not a crowd standing politely watching a band. This was Parkway Drive. McCall also spotted a very young fan holding a sign announcing that it was his first ever Parkway Drive show. The moment was genuinely heartwarming, particularly when you realise that a new generation is discovering the same band that so many of us grew up with. Respect to those parents. You’re raising the next generation of Parkway fans. “Feed Them to the Pigs” kept the momentum going, but then came the moment many in the room had clearly been waiting for. “Carrion.” The Enmore absolutely detonated. The pit erupted with a ferocity that made it feel like everyone had been saving whatever energy they had left specifically for that song. Crowd surfers appeared from every direction, shoes and caps were launched into the air, and for a while, it seemed nobody in the room had any idea where their belongings were going to end up. And honestly, nobody seemed to care. Song after song, Parkway kept delivering, never losing that trademark intensity. The band looked completely at home on that stage, while the audience gave them everything right back. Before launching into “Boneyards”, McCall gave everyone a brief opportunity to catch their breath, joking that Horizons is “the fast album.” – He wasn’t wrong. “Boneyards”, “Idols and Anchors”, “Moments in Oblivion” and “Dead Man’s Chest” came flying at the crowd, with the latter bringing Peter Abordi back onto the stage to join Parkway for what was another huge moment of the night. Then came “Horizons”. McCall introduced it as one of the best songs Parkway Drive have ever written. Looking around the Enmore, it was pretty hard to argue with him. The first part of the show came to an end, and the band took another well-earned water break. It wasn’t really an encore, but it certainly felt like one of those moments where everyone in the building needed to take a breath before whatever came next. Because Parkway weren’t finished. The second half shifted into full-blown Parkway Drive classics. “Prey” had every single person jumping, and the entire venue seemed to move as one. The stalls were literally shaking, to the point that security had to remind people to stop jumping. Yes, the floor was moving that much. “Karma” followed before “Vice Grip” took things to another level. The pit was somehow even more alive, while the entire room screamed every word back at McCall. Then came “Romance Is Dead”. For longtime Parkway fans, this was the kind of moment that made the night feel particularly special. There was something incredibly raw about seeing these songs performed in a venue like the Enmore, surrounded by fans who clearly knew exactly what these tracks meant to them. By this point, people looked absolutely destroyed. Parkway still weren’t done. “Bottom Feeder” arrived with the obligatory fingers-up moment, before “Wild Eyes” brought the night to its final, glorious explosion. It was deafening. At one point, McCall simply dropped his microphone and let Sydney take over, and Sydney did not disappoint. Thousands of voices became one, screaming the words back at one of Australia’s greatest heavy icons, as the band stood there and took it all in. This is what makes Parkway Drive so special. They have played some of the biggest stages in the world. They’ve conquered Wacken, Knotfest, arenas and festivals across the globe. They’ve got the production, the pyro and the spectacle when they want it. But strip all of that away and put them inside the Enmore Theatre with a bunch of diehard fans, and the result is still the same – They absolutely bring it. There are no shortcuts. No holding back. No difference in attitude because the stage is smaller. From the biggest festival stages to a sweaty Sydney theater, Parkway Drive continue to play like they have something to prove, and the Parkway Nation wouldn’t have it any other way. Night two was loud, chaotic, sweaty, nostalgic and completely unforgettable. It felt less like watching a band perform an album and more like being thrown directly into a living piece of Parkway Drive history. If you still have the chance to catch the Killing Horizons tour, do yourself a favour, and if you can somehow see both nights, DO IT. Because experiencing Killing With a Smile one night and Horizons the next, surrounded by thousands of fans losing their minds together, feels like the kind of Parkway Drive experience we’ll be talking about for a very long time. Sydney got its Parkway fix, and judging by the state of the Enmore at the end of the night, Parkway got everything they came for too.
