Ферма Parker Ranch начала поставки местного фарша в школы Гавайев

WAIMEA — Parker Ranch marked an important milestone last month with the start of deliveries under its new contract to provide ground beef to Hawaii Island public schools. Under the agreement, Parker Ranch — in partnership with Hamakua Meat Processors and the state Department of Education — will deliver approximately 4,000 pounds of locally raised ground beef each month, helping provide students with food produced here at home while supporting the broader effort to strengthen local agriculture and Hawaii’s food system. “We’re proud to continue supporting our local schools and providing Parker Ranch beef for Hawaii Island keiki,” Micah Kane, chief executive officer at Parker Ranch, said in a press release. “For us, this is about more than delivering beef. It’s about strengthening the connection between local agriculture and the communities we serve.” The new contract reflects Parker Ranch’s longstanding commitment to Hawaii Island and its role as a working cattle ranch rooted in Waimea, according to the release. By supplying locally raised beef to public schools, Parker Ranch is helping keep more food production and purchasing within the local economy while introducing students to food raised in their own island community. Founded in 1847, Parker Ranch is one of the largest and most historic cattle ranches in the United States.
