Ozarks Life: Buddy the Blue Corgi’s story teaches kids about moral values The four Buddy books teach kids about patience, telling the truth, and being kind to one another. SEYMOUR, Mo. (KY3) - Suzanna Lynn has a buddy named... Buddy. “We weren’t very inventive with his name, but I guess it works,” Suzanna laughed. Almost 14 years ago, Suzanna wanted a corgi and found a woman with some pups in Wichita. “A blue heeler dad, a corgi mom; he was the only blue puppy,” Suzanna said, “and nobody wanted to adopt him because he didn’t look like the standard corgi. And when I saw him, I fell in love with him. I thought he was the most beautiful puppy in the world.” But Buddy became more than just Suzanna’s buddy. “I was watching my daughter play outside with him because she was being severely bullied at school,” Suzanna remembered. “And when she would come home and play with him in the field, she would feel better. And it just came on my heart that I wanted to write a set of books for kids to navigate the hard things in life.” So Suzanna wrote two books back-to-back with morals for kids based on Buddy’s birth and adoption. Click here to visit Suzanna’s website to order her books. “‘You Are Special’, and that’s dealing with realizing we’re different, but that’s what makes you special not strange,” Suzanna said. “‘Good Things Take Time’ is Buddy’s adoption story, but it also teaches kids patience.” The third Buddy book is ‘Decisions Matter’ which is a mystery about trying to find a trash bandit. This teaches kids about telling the truth and also standing up for themselves. The fourth is ‘Jumping to Conclusions’ which is about judging others by their hearts and not their appearance. “There’s so much out there right now that is kind of polluting our kids’ minds, honestly,” Suzanna said. “We just need to get back to the good old morals of just being kind to one another and learning patience and telling the truth and having fun. Over the last six years, they’ve driven over 100,000 miles visiting schools in six states. Bullying is one topic they hit on. He and his sister Winnie were off to their next adventure. Winnie is a puppy you might see soon at a school near you. “(Buddy) is getting older; he will be 14,” Suzanna said. “So that’s why Winnie is coming into the picture.
