В Ферманеге прошел классический турнир по спиннингу, но власти призывают обновить рыболовные пирсы

OVER 100 anglers took to the shores of Lough Erne over the weekend for the Fermanagh Feeder Classic, as the county continued to build on its reputation as a premier angling hotspot. The popular event attracted a strong field of talented anglers to Fermanagh, with competitors battling it out across a number of sections for a range of top prizes. The course was divided into five sections, taking in a number of well-known fishing locations across the county. One section included waterways around Magho, Carren Lough and Ross Lough, as well as Crom Lake and Corradovar. Naan Island made up another section, while the Manor, Lockies Bay and Rossclare formed a further area for competitors. The Lough Erne Golf Resort also hosted one of the sections, with anglers competing for honours throughout the event. The weekend’s competition came amid renewed efforts to develop Fermanagh’s angling offering, which attracts visitors from across Ireland and further afield. However, concerns have been raised about the condition of some fishing stands, with calls for greater investment to ensure facilities remained safe and accessible for local anglers and visitors. Fermanagh and Omagh District Councillor, Anthony Feely, said maintaining the county’s reputation as a top class angling destination was vital. “Fermanagh is internationally renowned for its superb fishing waters, from Lough Erne to our many still-water lakes,” he said. “There is an onus on us to provide safe and accessible fishing stands for those who choose to come here.” Efforts are also being made to encourage more young people to take up the sport, with the Erne Anglers holding a well-attended summer camp.
