Западный стиль в интерьере: от эко-домов в Британской Колумбии до уникальных проектов в Альберте

West Coast design is known for its clean lines, indoor-outdoor flow, earthy tones, and a natural softness. But that doesn't mean there isn't room for bold choices and one-of-a-kind style. We've rounded up some of our favourite West Coast homes to date, from seaside retreats in B.C. to family homes in Alberta. Encompassed by a light and airy aesthetic, this North Vancouver home may celebrate white tones, but it could never be accused of being cold. “The owners loved the idea of a nearly ‘blank canvas’ where their curated art collection could shine as vibrant accents throughout,” says designer Julie Lepper. a celebration of Sustainability & Reclaimed Materials 4 / 11 Image by: Eymeric Widling Despite the allure of its eco-friendly fixtures, the star of the vacation home took root in one specific element: reclaimed wood from rail-car planks. “The overall goal was to highlight the quality of the materials and their natural beauty,” says designer Karen Attwell. Keeping longevity at the forefront, this home is a portrait of traditional craftsmanship and thoughtful architectural details. “Together, these elements create a subtle yet distinctly European sensibility while still feeling fresh and contemporary,” says designer Maria DeCotiis. “The clients are avid art collectors and lovers of the city, so we wanted to treat the condo’s design as the perfect backdrop to highlight those two things,” says the B.C. design team. Careful space planning maximized custom storage features and layered in stylish millwork. Designer Ami McKay complemented the new bones with a serene colour palette, relaxed furnishings and warm white-oak accents, along with plenty of contemporary curves for some modern verve. To reflect the homeowner’s commitment to support local shops and artisans, almost all the furnishings, decor, and cabinetry were sourced from Calgary makers. Designer Louis Duncan-He took charge of a blank-canvas, all-white Alberta home by layering in richness, pattern and warmth. “It’s exquisite, it’s one of a kind, and it’s a spectacular showcase of what Canada has to offer,” he says. Designer Karla Amadatsu’s Fort Langley, B.C., home channels the charming old houses she grew up in, filled with character, family treasures, vintage pieces and plenty of laughter and warmth.
