OGDENSBURG — The Ogdensburg International Seaway Festival is set to return July 17–26 with a full slate of entertainment, competitions and community events stretching across parks, waterfront spaces and local venues.
As Ogdensburg’s largest event of the year, the festival typically draws hundreds to the city.
The volunteer-run festival, operated entirely by community organizers, continues its tradition along the St. Lawrence River.
Festivities open Friday, July 17, with an evening performance by The Fabulous Don Swan Comedy Hypnotist at 7 p.m. at the Ogdensburg Elks Club on Caroline Street.
Saturday, July 18, brings one of the busiest days of the festival calendar. The Arts, Craft & Wine Show runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Lockwood Arena with a $3 admission. On the water, canoe racers will launch at 9 a.m. from the Heuvelton Boat Launch and travel to Spring Street in Ogdensburg. Families can head to the Greenbelt at 9:30 a.m. for the free Children’s Fishing Derby, followed by the Firefighters’ Kids Games at noon in Morrisette Park, hosted by Ogdensburg Fire Fighters Local 1799. The day wraps with a 6–8 p.m. Concert in the Park, lineup to be announced.
Sunday, July 19 continues the momentum with a Color Fun Run at 9 a.m. (details TBA), followed by the Sandbar Challenge Fishing Derby from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hosmer’s Marina. Golfers will take part in the Oswegatchie Golf Challenge from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Lions Club/Trafalgar Park. The afternoon features the Battle of the Bands from 3–5 p.m. at the Ogdensburg Free Academy Athletic Facility, with admission set at $5 and sponsored by Pepsi Ogdensburg in memory of Bonnie Wright.
Monday, July 20 features a chicken barbecue fundraiser by Pig & Moo BBQ benefiting the festival in Morrisette Park, followed by a 6 p.m. main stage performance by Fullbone.
Tuesday, July 21 includes an evening performance beginning at 6 p.m., with the band still to be announced.
Midweek programming continues Wednesday, July 22 with a Classic Car Cruise-In from 6–8 p.m. at Library Park, alongside a concert by The Elderly Brothers Band.
Thursday, July 23 offers a full slate of interactive entertainment, including line dancing with the Heuvelton Stompers on Riverside Avenue from 6–8 p.m., a dunking booth challenge at Library Park, and a Throwback Thursday performance by Double Axle at the Ogdensburg Elks Club satellite event beginning at 7 p.m.
Friday, July 24 marks one of the festival’s signature nights, featuring bounce houses, train rides, mechanical bull riding, axe throwing, photo booths and food vendors throughout the evening. Gypsy Road takes the main stage from 7–9:45 p.m., followed by the Seaway Festival Fireworks Spectacular over the St. Lawrence River at 9:45 p.m. near Library Park.
Saturday, July 25 features the festival parade beginning at 11 a.m. on Ford Street, preceded by float judging at 9 a.m. at St. Lawrence Federal Credit Union on Commerce Park Drive. A basketball tournament will also take place in Morrisette Park, with sign-ups beginning at 4 p.m. and play starting at 5 p.m. A block party sponsored by America 1 Realty will run throughout Library Park with activities including laser tag, bounce houses, and a K-Stone Petting Zoo.
The festival concludes Sunday, July 26, with a Duck Race at 11 a.m. (location TBA), a Seaway Cruisers car show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Fort Property on Albany Avenue, a craft and farmer’s market in Morrisette Park from noon to 4 p.m., and family activities including petting zoo attractions and bounce houses at Library Park.
