Ушла из жизни 81-летняя Сью Кэди, известная своей любовью к животным и благотворительностью

Sue E. Cady Rindge, NH – Sue E. Cady, age 81, of Rindge, NH, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2026, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by loved ones. She was born on September 10, 1944, in Exeter, NH, to Lewis D. Gilmore Jr., and Mary Gaffney (Freeman) Gilmore. She attended Rindge Memorial School, Conant High School (Class of 1962) and The University of New Hampshire (Class of 1966). Growing up in Rindge, she was a lover of animals, small and large. She always had a dog from early childhood, starting when a Collie named Goliath was brought home. Like Goliath, her last dog was also a Collie named Polo. In between, she raised numerous dogs and cats, including two Dalmatians. It was always a treat to listen to her tell stories about her father and their nasty pony named Billy, often told with laughter she couldn’t contain. Her love of animals was life long and produced so much happiness. After her early years in Exeter, NH, she moved to Winchendon, MA, as a young toddler with her sister Anne. Not long after they moved to the family home in Rindge. After high school, her next stay was in Durham, NH, to attend the University of New Hampshire. Following graduation, she was off to Bloomington, IN, for a short period before moving to New York city where she lived for thirty years. Later, she moved to Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY, before finally returning to Rindge and her family home to take care of her mother. Being the first child, she was the holder of all family history. She loved to look at all the old family albums with family and share with everyone about her parents’ family business in Winchendon. She’d tell stories of her and her younger siblings’ experiences growing up in the stores: the drug store with its old-fashion soda fountain, the shoe store, and the hardware store; visiting the Grandparents in Exeter and Pittsfield, and all the tales about them. The backyard in the summers, where, as the oldest, she was charged with watching her brothers and sisters, as well as numerous cousins all day, every day, while their parents worked. She was active in clubs and activities throughout high school and college. After her marriage in 1966, she moved to Bloomington, IN, and then to New York City with her husband. There, she started a thirty-year career in Air Canada’s New York City offices. While working for Air Canada, she pioneered a Christmastime program to support city families that had lost their homes and possessions to fire. She organized fundraisers with her colleagues to fund the program, and they bought toys and clothes for the children and their parents. It became a highly successful program that ran for years, supporting those in need. During her time with Air Canada, she was able to help her own parents travel the world, and she herself visited all parts of the world. Her trips included climbing the mountains of Africa to see the silverback gorillas, Japan, and many countries throughout Europe. While in New York City, she was a supporter of art and a part of the young art scene in the city. She always had family visiting to take them to art openings, go to a sporting event, see the Nutcracker with her nieces and nephews, attend shows on Broadway, or just tour the city to take in the sites. On one special Thanksgiving, her loft apartment on Ludlow Street was packed with family. People were sleeping everywhere so they could all watch Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Throughout her life, Sue’s love, compassion, and support for others was endless. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need, simply because she believed it was “the right thing to do.” Sue had a special gift for guiding and encouraging others, whether they were facing difficult times, or simply needed someone to remind them that everything would be alright. She was a strong, supportive presence in the lives of many, always offering a listening ear and a safe place to turn whenever someone needed to talk. She was predeceased by her parents, grandparents, and her brother, Thomas Rock Gilmore. She is survived by her sister, Anne Tomasini (Sandy); her brothers Danny Gilmore (Sherry), David Gilmore (Karen), and Chris Gilmore (Kari), Peter Keating (Shirly) and her Sister, Rebecca Pico. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and a great-great niece. She stayed close to her UNH family and friends right up to her passing. Sue also had a very special bond with the Sloanhoffer family, as she served as a nanny for the family for many years. Family and friends are warmly invited to her funeral service at 10:30 AM Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Cournoyer Funeral Home, 33 River Street, Jaffrey, NH.
