В индустриальном парке Норт-Манкато открылся новый склад Amazon и анонсировано строительство завода

North Mankato leaders reflect on growing industrial park during Amazon delivery station tour NORTH MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - North Mankato Mayor Scott Carlson had a lot to be impressed by during a tour of the city’s Amazon delivery station, WMN7 at the Northport Industrial Park on Wednesday. “We’re kind of considered a bedroom community, and we’re kind of getting traction for industrial use also, so adding Amazon, it kind of just gives us more diversity to what we do here,” Carlson said. The site first opened in December 2025 as part of an effort to extend coverage in greater Minnesota, and to celebrate almost a year in the community, the company decided to hold a tour and ribbon cutting for North Mankato area leaders. Dalton Chmelik, a first-time station manager who has worked with Amazon for 10 years, said that since opening day, the new station has been able to grow weekly deliveries from 13,000 a day to 16,000 a day, and in total it has delivered 2.45 million packages over the past year. The station has also hired around 200 employees for sorting, packing and shipping, 15 leadership positions, and contracted with two local delivery service providers to bring in 200 drivers for its packages. “It has been incredible since we launched. We’ve been rapidly expanding, and a lot of that is the community around us. We have had a lot of success in the North Mankato and Greater Mankato area, a lot of really good people in this building. It has been fantastic,” Chmelik said. In addition to handling deliveries, Chmelik said the station also has its own inventory with around 10,000 of the most common products that are ordered in the area, such as groceries, cleaning supplies, batteries and more. The feature is part of the company’s growing RSR program, which is meant to make local deliveries in around three to five hours after an order. Mayor Carlson said the site is just one of the most recent businesses that has been added to the growing industrial park, and the city council is already in talks with future businesses that want to set up in the area as well. Carlson said a manufacturing company is looking to buy 25 to 26 acres for a 300,000 square foot facility to manufacture devices and tubes that can transport hot fluids for things like hydraulics. The new facility could create anywhere from 100 to 150 new jobs, if it is able to break ground and finish construction by fall of 2027. The mayor said for anyone who wants to learn more about the proposed site, and the company behind it, the city council will be discussing the new proposal for the industrial park at a city council meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
