В штате Калифорния начато строительство 15 проектов по расширению системы психического здоровья

Jamestown, CA — 15 projects in California that received state funding broke ground this past quarter to help reverse decades of neglect of the behavioral health system. Governor Gavin Newsom says they are part of a “Mental Health For All” initiative and highlighted them in a media release issued by his office. Among those is the Mathiesen Memorial Health Clinic’s new health and wellness center at the intersection of Highway 108 and 5th Avenue in Jamestown. CEO Jasmin Rice and Project Director John Vass spoke about the project on a recent Mother Lode Views (click here to listen). The Governor’s Office notes that the project received nearly $14 million from California’s Behavioral Health Continuum Infrastructure Program to help expand opioid treatment services. Related to strengthening rural treatment capacity, the Governor’s Office notes that the Jamestown project will add 24 outpatient treatment slots, serving 4,608 people annually. “These new facilities and programs reflect how much we can accomplish when we combine shared purpose with real investment,” says California Health and Human Services Agency Secretary Kim Johnson. “With Proposition 1 (funding) accelerating this momentum, we are bringing treatment, crisis care, and recovery services within reach for more families and building a stronger, more equitable system.” Other regional projects (among the 15 total) are in Stanislaus and Tulare counties. Governor Newsom states, “Communities across the state are seeing the results of Proposition 1 and our infrastructure investments: real treatment options, closer to home, designed for preventative care, and long-term recovery.” Click here to read an earlier story about the project ground-breaking.
