База Форт Карсон стала единственной в армии США с тремя бригадами на базе бронетранспортеров Stryker

New war machines at Fort Carson put post in unique position COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Fort Carson’s 4th Infantry Division is going through some changes. The 3rd Brigade is moving from an armor combat team to a Stryker brigade. Strykers are military vehicles with less armor than tanks but are better for transporting. For the last 50 years, the brigade has been an armor brigade, but the team has officially turned in their tanks. Third Brigade Commander, Colonel Nicholas Sinclair, is ready to learn all about the new war machines. “We’re looking forward to it,” Sinclair continued. “It’s exciting to be able to command the formation when it’s able to go through this. To me, it’s a challenge to learn a new platform, a new way of fighting.” With this new addition, Col. Sinclair said Fort Carson now has the only division in the Army with three Stryker Brigades. This makes the installation a leader in the field. “It’ll be the center of gravity for Stryker-based operations,” said Sinclair. Col. Sinclair said having Strykers will allow for easier deployment. “You’ll be able to fit a lot more of these into the back of aircraft than you could in an armored vehicle. There’s strategic possibilities as well,” Col. Sinclair continued. “There’s jungle, there’s islands. And so this platform and the soldiers that will fit into it will be much better suited for those environments than, say, an armor brigade.” Since the Army post already has two Stryker brigades, adding a third will highly benefit the division. “Being able to train three like units is much simpler to train two like units and a different unit,” said Col. Sinclair. Some current members of the 3rd Brigade will be re-assigned to different divisions, and new people with Stryker background will be brought in. Colonel Sinclair said the number of members should remain the same, though, around 3,000. “We embrace this new identity, we embrace this new culture, we learn the platform,” Col. Sinclair continued. “We learn how to fight as a Stryker brigade and that we are continued service to the nation and to the Army.” So far, the Mountain Post has secured six of its 200 Strykers for the brigade and expects the next batch to arrive before the end of summer. The tanks and other armor brigade equipment are going to Fort Hood in Texas. Copyright 2026 KKTV. All rights reserved.
