В Техасе завершена установка шпиля при восстановлении церкви, уничтоженной пожаром три года назад

New Tabor Brethren Church moves one step closer to being rebuilt with the latest milestone CALDWELL, Texas (KBTX) - Nearly three years ago, a fire destroyed the New Tabor Brethren Church in Caldwell. Today, the rebuilding process continues to move along piece by piece. Members of the church community celebrated a new milestone today as the church installed a new steeple. While it’s a new steeple and only one piece of the church, it not only shares similarities with the steeple that was caught in the fire but also carries significance for the church and community. “It also signifies reaching up to the heavens, reaching up to God,” New Tabor Brethren Church pastor David Johnson said. “But it’s a traditional piece of church. Not all churches have steeples, but us being here in Caldwell in a country town, it’s very appropriate.” While the church itself may still be undergoing construction, Johnson says the worship and the teachings remain. “As we’ve been saying this whole time, the church is not that building behind me. The church is the people in this parking lot,” Johnson said. Several members of the community came out to witness the steeple as construction crews set it in place. It’s support from the community that the Board of Elders President Albert Surovik has taken notice of. “The support that they’ve had through this whole process and donations, the local community, all the donations that they’ve made to help make this possible for us today. The church body really is the body in the whole community,” Surovik said. While the steeple is a significant piece of the puzzle as work continues on the church, people like Johnson and Surovik are ready to welcome people back inside the church doors. “It’s special. We’re just thrilled that we’re able to be where we are today, and we’re looking forward to being able to get into the church whenever it’s completed,” Surovik said. The good news is that the wait is almost over. Johnson said the church could be completed sometime between Thanksgiving and the beginning of January 2027, which would mark three years since the church burned down. Copyright 2026 KBTX.
