Sage has introduced Salary Payments, a new feature in Sage Payroll designed to reduce payday admin and help small businesses and accountants move from payroll calculations to salary payments in one connected workflow. Salary Payments allows employers to approve and send employee salary payments directly from their linked bank account once payroll is complete. Sage says the feature removes the need to switch between payroll software and online banking, helping reduce manual steps, duplicate checks and the risk of payment errors. The update is aimed at small businesses and accountants who still rely on separate systems to process pay runs. John Evans, Director and co‑owner of Kiki’s Kabin and The Treehouse in North Tyneside, estimates the feature has cut the time he spends processing payroll by around 20 per cent. He previously had to manually move payroll information into online banking and carry out multiple checks before employees could be paid. “I’ve done payroll for 30 years, and every time you process it, it’s stressful. But I now know that when I process payroll in Sage Payroll, it’s going to pull those figures into Barclays correctly, accurately and quickly. For the sake of clicking a few buttons, that’s amazing,” he said. Katie Powell, VP Venture Growth at Sage, said the update reflects the company’s focus on removing unnecessary steps from payday. “Running payroll should end with people getting paid; quickly, accurately and with confidence. For too long, businesses have completed a pay run in their payroll software and then had to start a separate payment process. Salary Payments brings those steps together inside Sage Payroll, helping make payday simpler and making money flow more smoothly for businesses and their people.” Salary Payments is powered by Sage’s partnership with Crezco, which provides the Open Banking connectivity behind the service.
