Школа Glenwood House с 2027 года станет частью сети Trinityhouse и сменит название

GEORGE NEWS - After two decades under the Glenwood House name, this familiar George school is preparing to enter a new chapter, and parents will see a new name on the school's gates. From 1 January 2027, Glenwood House will formally become part of the Trinityhouse family of schools and will be known as Trinityhouse Glenwood. AdvTech, the South African education group that owns both schools, described the move as a strategic decision to align standalone schools within its portfolio with established brands. Glenwood principal Trevor Harbottle said the decision followed an 18-month review that involved parent survey feedback, focus groups and community engagement. While the branding will change, Harbottle said the fundamentals of Glenwood will remain. Its Christian ethos, academic standards, educational philosophy, leadership, governance, employment conditions and four-term calendar will remain unchanged. The most visible changes will be the school's name, visual identity and, eventually, its uniform. Glenwood will retain its name within the new identity as Trinityhouse Glenwood, while existing uniforms may be worn until the end of 2029. The Trinityhouse uniform will only become compulsory in 2030. The rebrand has, however, caused concern among some parents and members of the school community regarding the future of Glenwood's established identity, culture and traditions. Harbottle said Glenwood is one of several schools in AdvTech's portfolio that will undergo a rebrand in January 2027. Trinity was considered a natural fit because of the two schools' shared Christian foundations, emphasis on academic excellence and commitment to developing the whole child. The relationship between the schools also predates Glenwood joining AdvTech in 2017. Trinity was established in 1997, while Glenwood was founded in George in 2006. According to Harbottle, the figures involved in establishing Trinity also helped establish Glenwood, resulting in shared educational principles. "The connection between Glenwood House and Trinityhouse is woven into the history of both schools," said Merice Roopram, managing director of Trinity. "This transition brings that shared heritage into clearer focus and allows us to build an even stronger future together." Traditions respected Harbottle said existing Glenwood traditions would be respected and strengthened during the transition. He also denied that the rebrand was intended to position the school to attract semigration families, saying its primary purpose remains serving families in George and the surrounding region. The staff were informed of the decision directly by the school's leadership. Harbottle said the staff, parents and learners have been given opportunities to ask questions and engage with the leadership, and these discussions are expected to continue throughout the transition. Larger network For Glenwood families, the change will also bring the school into a larger network. Trinity forms part of a family of schools serving more than 6 000 learners, which Harbottle said will provide opportunities for greater collaboration, shared expertise, educational support and professional development. Harbottle said the move was about building on Glenwood's existing strengths. "This next chapter honours that legacy. We are not changing the heart of our school. We are strengthening its future by joining a family that shares the same Christian foundation, educational values and sense of purpose," he said. ‘We bring you the latest Garden Route, Hessequa, Karoo news’
