В Монтгомери пройдет юбилейный концерт симфонического оркестра с участием Йо-Йо Ма

MONTGOMERY, Ala. ( WSFA ) - The Montgomery Symphony Orchestra is kicking off its milestone 50th Anniversary season with a truly legendary guest: world-renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma! With a career spanning over six decades, Yo-Yo Ma has played with the world’s top orchestras and earned just about every honor imaginable—including multiple Grammys, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and the Kennedy Center Honors. Now, he’s coming to Montgomery on Sunday, September 20, at 3:00 p.m. to perform with the MSO at Troy University’s Davis Theatre for the Performing Arts. For the orchestra, this isn’t just another opening night. Sharing the stage with a global icon like Ma is a proud reflection of how much the MSO has grown artistically over the last fifty years. “Opening our 50th-anniversary season alongside Yo-Yo Ma... is the most rewarding way to begin this monumental season in Montgomery,” says Music Director and Conductor Jamie Reeves. He adds that this season is all about celebrating the orchestra’s rich history while creating a space for world-class music right here in our community. During the performance, Ma will join the orchestra for Antonín Dvořák’s iconic Cello Concerto in B Minor. The program will also feature Aaron Copland’s beautiful “Appalachian Spring Suite” and “The Block” by contemporary American composer Carlos Simon. While the anniversary season will continue with four Masterworks concerts, the Joyce Caddell Holiday Pops, Back to the Future In Concert, and plenty of community programs, the Yo-Yo Ma opener is the hottest ticket in town. It is nearly sold out, but a very limited number of tickets are being released today, Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 12:00 p.m. If you want to grab seats or check out the rest of the 50th-anniversary season, head over to MontgomerySymphony.org.
