Филфат Мучуреэзи стала новой Мисс Туризма Уганды на фоне траура по королю Торо

The Miss Tourism Uganda 2026 grand finale took on a somber tone after contestants paid tribute to the late Tooro King, Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, during an evening that celebrated beauty, culture and tourism in Kampala. King Oyo died on August 27, 2026, in Dallas, Texas, drawing grief across Uganda, particularly in cultural and tourism circles. Contestants from the Tooro sub-region joined others in honoring the late monarch, briefly shifting attention from the glamour of the night to reflection and remembrance. After the tribute, the spotlight returned to the competition, where 20-year-old Filfat Mucureezi from Ankole was crowned Miss Tourism Uganda. Also known as Mucureezi Milfat, she impressed judges in the question-and-answer segment with her confidence and knowledge, finishing ahead of the other finalists. More than 36 women and eight men competed this year, representing 12 tourism clusters across Uganda. The clusters included Eastern, Ankole, Tooro, Buganda, Kigezi, West Nile, Teso, Northern Uganda, Rwenzori, Karamoja, Bunyoro and the newly added Metro cluster. Mucureezi will receive a fully furnished house at Villa Vellar Estate in Bwebajja along Entebbe Road, where she will live rent-free. The event drew tourism and cultural leaders, including State Minister for Tourism Susan Nakawuki Nsambu and representatives from the Uganda Tourism Board, Uganda Wildlife Authority and the Museums and Monuments department. Uganda Tourism Association president Yogi Birigwa also attended, alongside entertainment figures such as veteran actor Sam Bagenda, popularly known as Dr Bbosa, and Andrew Benon Kibuuka. The night also featured the second edition of Man of Tourism International Uganda, with Prosper Auther Makayi winning the men’s title. He was later presented with a white robe and matching hat designed by The Suit’s Republic fashion house. Performances by Jonathan Diva, the Smiles Cultural Troupe and Qwela Band founder Joe Kahirimbanyi added color to the event, which organisers used to showcase Uganda’s cultural identity and tourism potential.
