The Minth Group is significantly expanding its manufacturing footprint in North America. On August 3, 2026, the company broke ground on a new production facility in Gadsden, Alabama. The project forms part of the international automotive supplier’s localization strategy and is set to become an important hub within its North American manufacturing network.
According to the company, total investment of approximately USD 430 million is planned in several phases for the redevelopment of existing industrial areas and the construction of new production facilities. Minth acquired the site in March 2026, and preparation and redevelopment work has been progressing since then.
The first phase of production is scheduled to start in 2027.
Four Product Areas Under One Roof
The new facility will focus on four core product groups:
- Body and structural components
- Aluminium components
- Plastic parts
- Metal and trim components
Minth aims to establish a highly vertically integrated manufacturing operation in Alabama, bringing production closer to its North American automotive customers.
Once fully operational, the site is expected to create more than 1,300 jobs. At the same time, the project will revitalize a previously underutilized industrial site in Gadsden.
Aluminium and Structural Components Gain Importance for Minth
Of particular interest to the foundry industry is Minth’s continued expansion in aluminium and structural components.
Traditionally known for automotive trim and exterior components as well as aluminium profiles, Minth has significantly broadened its portfolio in recent years. Today, its product range includes battery housings, crash management systems, subframes and other body and chassis structures.
At the same time, the group is expanding its expertise in aluminium die casting. Through its subsidiaries, Minth already produces aluminium die-cast components and is increasingly investing in large structural applications.
This development is particularly evident in Europe. In Serbia, the group has established extensive aluminium processing and die-casting capacities. These include a 7,000-tonne large-scale die-casting system from LK Machinery, designed for the production of integrated battery housings and automotive body structural components.
Minth is therefore increasingly evolving from a traditional component and aluminium processor into an integrated supplier of battery housing, body structure and chassis solutions.
Alabama to Become a Major North American Hub
With its new Gadsden facility, Minth is now continuing this strategy in North America. A key feature will be the combination of different manufacturing technologies and product groups at a single location. Aluminium processing, structural components, plastics as well as metal and trim products are expected to be manufactured within an integrated production system.
Whether the Alabama facility will also include aluminium die casting or large structural casting has not yet been specified in the project information released so far.
Given Minth’s growing die-casting expertise and its strategic move towards larger structural components, however, the future technological configuration of the Alabama site will be of particular interest to the foundry industry.
The Minth Group today operates an international research, development and manufacturing network covering countries including China, the United States, Canada, Mexico, Germany, France, Poland, the Czech Republic, Serbia, the United Kingdom, Thailand, Japan and South Korea.
With its USD 430 million investment in Alabama, Gadsden is set to become one of Minth Group’s most important manufacturing locations in North America, strengthening local production capabilities and enabling the company to respond more quickly to the requirements of automotive manufacturers across the region.
