Жительница Детройта оспорила мнение сторонника MAGA о необходимости работать усерднее из-за недоступности жизни в Мичигане

A Michigan woman shared her story about discussing her financial challenges while living in the state. In her video, she said that when she complained to her friend about how “unaffordable” it is to live in Michigan, a person she described as a “MAGA Republican” suggested she work harder. The woman, in her video, said that’s not an issue and described the challenges she has faced while living in Michigan despite her efforts. According to her, she was with her friend in a public place when she complained about how unaffordable it is to live in the state. Apparently, the person she referred to as a “MAGA Republican” overheard their conversation and then said, “Oh, well, you just need to work harder. You should just get a higher-paying job. Maybe you should have went to school, and then you would have had more money, and then you could stop complaining.” It appears that this wasn’t the issue for this woman, as she claimed about going to school and having a degree. According to her, the issue was her wage and similar factors, as she said, “I’m sorry, but that’s not the issue. I did go to school, I did get a degree, and I’m still getting paid the bare minimum. The issue is in our wages, it’s in the cost of living, it’s in the affordability.” She also stated that the policies from “national government” aren’t fixing her condition. She also explained how it is “unaffordable” for her to live in Michigan Before getting to the part where she mentioned a “MAGA Republican,” the woman appeared to explain how the state is unaffordable for her. She said that despite working for four years at her job, she’s still “making minimum wage” of “$13 an hour.” After that, she mentioned her finances, including $4-a-gallon gas prices, high grocery bills, and higher rents. She then mentioned how it is a challenge to save. “Because as you’re scraping to get by, you can’t save up for a house, you can’t save for anything.” Apart from this woman, whether Michigan is affordable or unaffordable depends on the city a person lives in. According to AffordHomeUSA, Michigan’s statewide cost-of-living index is 89 in 2026. As per the stats shared by the source, Detroit appears to be the most affordable city, with a cost-of-living index of 82, a salary benchmark of $26,250, and an average home price of $105,000. Ann Arbor appears to be the most expensive city, with a cost-of-living index of 108, a salary benchmark of $105,000, and an average home price of $420,000. Now, coming back to the woman, per her TikTok profile, she’s from Detroit. There’s no sign of a confrontation with the “MAGA Republican,” as she only appeared to describe what they said, and no comments from them were found. The woman’s claims are not independently verified.
