Melexis Becomes Direct Supplier to BYD for EV Technologies In The News | 25-08-2026 | By Jack Pollard Melexis has signed a Master Purchase Agreement (MPA) with BYD, establishing the semiconductor company as a direct supplier within BYD's global procurement network. The agreement formalises an existing relationship between the two companies and will give BYD direct access to Melexis semiconductor technologies for electric vehicle applications. Melexis Semiconductor Technologies for BYD Under the agreement, BYD will have direct access to Melexis' portfolio of sensors and driver technologies covering automotive powertrain, thermal management, lighting, braking, steering and battery-related applications. The direct supplier relationship is also intended to enable closer collaboration between the companies' engineering teams as BYD develops future electric and new energy vehicle platforms. For Melexis, the agreement strengthens its relationship with one of the world's largest manufacturers of new energy vehicles and expands its presence within China's automotive market. Simplifying the EV Supply Chain Establishing direct purchasing and supply processes is expected to reduce supply chain complexity and improve operational efficiency between the two companies. The arrangement will also allow Melexis to align its technology roadmap more closely with BYD's future vehicle platforms. "BYD continues to set the global pace for scale and innovation in electrified mobility," said Dieter Verstreken, VP China Strategy at Melexis. "Transitioning to a direct supplier relationship is a natural evolution of our multi-year collaboration. It allows our engineering teams to collaborate more closely, ensuring our high-performance semiconductor solutions directly support BYD's mission to deliver safer, more efficient, and smarter vehicles." Melexis Expands Automotive Partnerships The agreement forms part of Melexis' wider strategy to strengthen its relationships with major automotive manufacturers and increase its presence in vehicle electrification applications. The company develops semiconductor technologies for a range of automotive systems, with sensing and driver products increasingly being used across electric powertrains, battery systems, thermal management and other vehicle functions.
