Университет Реджайны открыл новый кампус в Саскатуне для обучения 1300 студентов

The University of Regina has a new home-away-from-home in Saskatoon. "A university's reach should not be limited by the walls of its main campus," U of R president Jeff Keshen said this week as the 2026-27 school year kicked off. The newly-renovated location — taking over a building on Northridge Drive, a few strides off Circle Drive North — offers the school and its students, staff and faculty a space they can exclusively call their own. "Our students live, work and build their lives in communities across Saskatchewan, and our responsibility is, whenever possible, to meet them where they are," Keshen said. "This new Saskatoon campus strengthens our ability to do exactly that, providing students with a place to learn and build community while extending the University of Regina's reach across the province." The Saskatoon campus is a 16,000-square-foot facility that features classrooms, student gathering and study spaces, breakout rooms, teaching studios and technology designed for in-person, hybrid and remote learning. The campus will be home to approximately 800 nursing students and 500 social work students, as well as a La Cité office for the nursing bilingual option and the bilingual social work program. The new location also includes a dedicated classroom for smudging and other Indigenous practices. The U of R's move into the standalone building comes after decades of calling Innovation Place its home in Saskatoon. The lease expired and the school underwent a review of its needs. "This is simply a case of a lease coming to an end and the University of Regina needing space that aligns with its own academic priorities," Cathy Rocke, dean of the Faculty of Social Work, said in a news release in February. "Our commitment to Saskatoon hasn’t changed. If anything, this move allows us to strengthen it." According to U of R director of planning, design and construction Paula Matz, an extensive search took place to find the right location. Main factors considered included safety, accessibility, parking, cost and the ability to retrofit the space. "We reviewed more than 20 properties, narrowed that down to five, then to two, before selecting this site," Matz said in February. According to Rocke, the U of R signed a 10-year lease for the new location. The provincial government contributed $4.2 million to help establish a facility "that reflects the needs of today’s learners," Minister of Advanced Education Ken Cheveldayoff said. The university says the Saskatoon campus "represents an important evolution" in the U of R's presence in Saskatoon. "The University of Regina is fully committed to maintaining a strong presence in Saskatoon for the next decade and beyond," Keshen said in February.
