MatchBOX Studio teaming up with Arconic Foundation to support up-and-coming entrepreneurs LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - MatchBOX Coworking Studio and the Arconic Foundation are teaming up to support local entrepreneurs. Through a series of classes, you’ll go from an idea to a physical product. The free product accelerator program is focused on entrepreneurs working on a physical manufactured product. Within the MatchBOX Makerspace, you’ll use the 3D printers, new laser cutter and other materials to actually create your prototypes and present them to other participants. You’ll also have mentors, facilitators and an abundance of resources through the program. Throughout Indiana, MatchBOX has graduated 500 entrepreneurs from the program over eight years. MatchBOX Executive Director Amanda Findlay shares how the greater Lafayette community thrives on manufacturers and small businesses. “It’s so special to watch someone go from idea to actual business, watching them make their first sales, get their first customers and start to see traction and growth with what they’re building has been really significant for us. Especially because locally owned businesses are pretty important for our ecosystem and our economy,” said Findaly. “Being in a room with a dozen other people kind of going through the same journey is really empowering.” Scott Greeson with the Arconic Foundation says they focus on three major things: human needs, education and environmental sustainability. The foundation is backing the program and donated the new laser machine, showing its investment into future innovators and creators. Greeson said, “From an educational standpoint, this is a perfect fit. I mean, we’re talking about people learning about real businesses and real skills that could create an atmosphere that will give jobs to our community for the future.” The nine-week cohort will meet from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday nights starting August 31 at 17 S 6th St, Lafayette, IN 47901. The deadline to apply for this cohort is Wednesday, August 26, so be sure to submit your information as spots are incredibly limited.
