В Фэрго временно переместят автобусный терминал из-за обнаруженных дефектов конструкции

FARGO — Matbus will move to a temporary location next week after engineers found structural issues at the downtown Ground Transportation Center. The bus system will close its downtown Fargo hub at 502 NP Ave. on Saturday, Aug. 15, city officials said earlier this month. Matbus will relocate on Monday to the former Downtown Engagement Center at 222 Fourth St. N., according to a news release issued on Friday. ADVERTISEMENT Fixed-route rides are free Saturday because the city will move Matbus computer systems to the temporary location that day, the release said. “Customer service staff will still be at the 502 NP Ave. location but will not be able to load funds or sell passes on that day,” the release said. Riders can buy passes or get help in the lobby of the DEC, the release said. Buses will line up along Fourth Street North and Third Avenue North, according to the release. Routes will not change as a result of the move. The City Commission voted on Aug. 3 to temporarily move Matbus operations after engineers discovered broken, damaged and loose tendons in the GTC deck, where buses line up for boarding and disembarking passengers. Finding a new location is more feasible than repairing the damage, according to engineer findings. The city is looking for a more permanent home for the bus station. Building a center is slated to cost between $20 million and $25 million, according to city documents. City commissioners also voted to move the next-door Municipal Courthouse. Tentatively, the court will close Aug. 28 and reopen Aug. 31 at the Civic Center, with court hearings set to happen in the old City Commission Chambers. ADVERTISEMENT It’s unclear how long the temporary moves will last. Construction to turn the Civic Center into Fargo’s convention center is set to begin in the spring. The DEC also will become a hotel.
