Актриса Мэри Нджоку критикует двойные стандарты общества в отношении женщин, получающих выгоду от богатых мужчин

Entertainment Follow Us on Google September 4, 2026 by Yewande Fasan Mary Njoku questions double standard in ‘gold digger’ label Actress and producer Mary Njoku has raised questions about how society labels women who benefit from wealthy men. In an Instagram post, the mother of three noted that women are often labelled gold diggers for benefiting from a rich man’s generosity. She then asked what men in similar positions should be called, pointing out groups of men who live off a wealthy person’s resources without facing the same criticism. Njoku argued that people naturally gravitate towards value, and this applies to men, women, friends, relatives and employees alike. According to her, everyone wants to be associated with things that make life better. She added that the real issue is a double standard. When men benefit from proximity to wealth, she said, the behaviour is often given a respectable name, but when women do the same, it is described in negative terms. The actress concluded that everyone values wealth, and the difference lies only in the labels people choose. She wrote, “If benefiting from a wealthy person’s generosity makes a woman a gold digger, what exactly do we call the 17 men eating his food, wearing what he bought, enjoying his money and calling themselves his boys? “The truth is, people gravitate towards value. Men do it. Women do it. Friends do it. Relatives do it. Employees do it. Everyone wants to be close to something that makes life better. The double standard isn’t that people love money. “It’s that when men benefit from proximity to wealth, we give the behaviour a respectable name. When women do the same thing, we give it a dirty one. Everyone loves gold. The difference is in what we choose to call the people standing close to it.” 📢 ADVERTISEMENT DISCLAIMER: Links above are sponsored posts.
