Марк Нордман назначен временным генеральным директором комитета трассы «Идита رود»

Mark Nordman has been named interim CEO of the Iditarod Trail Committee, the organization said Wednesday. Nordman, who has worked in multiple capacities with the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race over nearly four decades, will take on the interim role starting Sept. 15. Nordman steps in for departing CEO Rob Urbach, who announced his resignation in June. Urbach, who has held the position for seven years, remains in the role until Nordman takes over later this month. Nordman has run the Iditarod five times as a musher, making his first start in 1983. He has since served the organization as a race judge, race marshal and village relations coordinator. He has been the race director since 1989. In a prepared statement from the Iditarod Trail Committee, Mike Mills, the chair of its board of directors, touted the vast experience Nordman brings to the position. “Mark knows the Iditarod from the inside out,” Mills said. “His decades of experience across nearly every facet of the organization, combined with the trust and respect he has earned throughout Alaska and beyond, make him the right person to lead the Iditarod during this transition.” Nordman, who came to Alaska from Minnesota 50 years ago, lives in Denali Park. In its statement, the Iditarod Trail Committee said its board of directors will continue to search for a permanent CEO while Nordman is at the helm. “The Iditarod has been the center of my adult life since 1983,” Nordman said. “I’m honored that the Board has placed this trust in me, and I’m committed to keeping the organization moving forward while we find the right long-term leader.”
