Ex-NBA player’s Brewers Hill bar property goes to foreclosure auction

A Brewers Hill building that houses a sports bar owned by a former NBA player is scheduled to be auctioned this month.
The property, home to Baltimore native and former Atlanta Hawks guard Malcolm Delaney’s So Baltimore Sports Bar & Lounge, is scheduled for a foreclosure auction Sept. 25 at 11 a.m., according to a listing from A.J. Billig & Co.
The two-story corner tavern at 3734 Fleet St. was built in 1920, the listing states. Bidders must post a $35,000 deposit.
Delaney bought the 2,170-square-foot building through his LLC for $500,000 in 2021, according to state property records. The bar opened a year later.
BayVanguard filed to foreclose on the property in February over a $350,000 loan issued to Delaney’s LLC, according to court records.
Management for So Baltimore Sports Bar & Lounge was not immediately available for comment. It is unclear whether the bar will remain open after the auction.
Delaney declined to comment.
The business was previously fined twice for unauthorized live entertainment, according to records from a 2025 Baltimore liquor board hearing. Dozens protested the bar’s liquor license renewal, citing noise from live entertainment and overcapacity crowds outside the property.
Delaney played locally for McDonogh School and Towson Catholic High School before playing four years at Virginia Tech. He went undrafted in the 2011 NBA draft and played for several European professional teams before joining the Hawks in 2016 on a two-year, $5 million contract. After his NBA stint, he returned overseas before retiring in 2022.
