В Лоллелле отметили лучшие выступления летнего музыкального фестиваля: от точных каверов The Beatles до уникального микса Pink Floyd и Talking Heads

As we turn toward the final week of the Lowell Summer Music Series season, it’s worth taking a quick look back at a couple of standout shows from earlier this summer. Fab Faux lit up the Boarding House Park stage in mid-July with their spot-on, note-for-note recreations of classics from The Beatles. An extremely receptive crowd spent the night listening as the Fab Faux blended a seamless mix of deep cuts and their biggest hits. Fab Faux is a New York-based band. If they happen to return to the area, and you love The Beatles, make a night of it. You won’t be disappointed. Watching this group of supremely talented, yet otherwise-unknown musicians captivate their audience became the not-so-subtext of the summer concert scene. A few weeks later, Pink Talking Fish brought their one-of-a-kind concoction of Pink Floyd, Talking Heads and Phish to the Mill City on Aug. 15. I’ve been to hundreds of concerts, but I’ve never seen anything like this before. They aren’t a cover band. They don’t sound exactly like any of the bands, but they sound enough like all three of the bands and have the musical skills to pull off an otherwise unconscionable concept. Moving directly from Pink Floyd’s show-opening “Have A Cigar” to the Talking Heads classic “(Nothing but) Flowers” before shifting from Phish’s “The Moma Dance” to Floyd’s “Fearless” was just the start. Through the two-set show, they also worked in “Another Brick in the Wall” (Parts 2 and 3) and “Time” from Pink Floyd, “Psycho Killer” and “Life During Wartime” from Talking Heads, and “The Lizards” and “Harry Hood” from Phish. Oh, and if that wasn’t enough, they also served up “Golden Age” from TV on the Radio and “Lawyers, Guns and Money” from Warren Zevon, plus “Better Man” from Pearl Jam. Again, this isn’t a cover band. It’s a concept band. And they executed it flawlessly.
