Add The New York Post on Google A 283-acre New Jersey farm owned by the late television personality Lou Dobbs is on the market for $6 million, its listing brokerage told Gimme Shelter. Hickory Hollow Farm is where Dobbs and his wife, Debi, a former CNN sports anchor, hosted their annual Fourth of July parties. Those all-day celebrations, where media stars and political consultants mixed with locals and newsroom staff, featured a live band and fireworks — along with scavenger hunts, swimming and pony rides for the kids. “We wanted to share our unique farm and all it had to offer,” Debi told Gimme Shelter. Those who attended the glam festivities over the years included Fox Business host Stuart Varney and his family, as well as political consultant Ed Rollins and top Douglas Elliman real estate broker Shari Scharfer Rollins — as well as the entrepreneur, political activist and former US Ambassador to Poland Georgette Mosbacher. The massive estate was fitting for such a larger-than-life personality, friends said. “The parties were always fabulous,” said one friend who attended, but declined to be named. “It’s a beautiful farm.” The estate is anchored by a five-bedroom Colonial home. There’s also a two-bedroom guest cottage, a two-bedroom caretaker’s cottage, a pool, a tennis court, plus an 11-acre pond stocked with fish. Dobbs, who passed away at age 78 in 2024, was an original CNN anchor and chief correspondent for the network when it launched in 1980. He was known for hosting his show, “Moneyline,” which was later renamed “Lou Dobbs Tonight.” By 2011, Dobbs had moved to the Fox Business Network, where he hosted “Lou Dobbs Tonight” until 2021. Throughout his career, he remained ahead of his time when it came to championing conservative issues. “There’s nothing fair and balanced about me,” said Dobbs in a New York Times interview in 2006. “Because there’s nothing fair and balanced about the truth.” Hickory Hollow Farm’s main house was built in 1977 and acquired by the Dobbs family in 1984. It has been expanded over time to its current 283 acres. New owners can determine what’s next, notes the listing — from Weichert Realtors’ Jaime Luongo — suggesting the addition of potential amenities like a helipad and a golf course. The property is categorized as farmland assessed, not preserved, which means there are development options, the listing also notes. Outside, there is also a spring-fed well water and a generator with a 2,000-gallon propane tank. Inside, a family room features floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook an 11-acre pond, while the back wall of windows looks to the pool, a tennis court with a half basketball court and the back paddock. A chef’s kitchen features a two-tiered breakfast bar that looks out to the garden. There’s also a home office off the kitchen, a dining room and a sunroom with bluestone floors. Downstairs, an unfinished basement awaits new vision. The grounds also include a main barn with 12 large stalls and a hayloft. There’s also a sand ring and a fenced riding area.
