Судья округа Робесон Джефф Мур скончался в возрасте 69 лет

PROSPECT — Jeff Moore, a longtime district court judge in Robeson County, died Tuesday. He was 69. Moore was elected to serve as a district court judge in 1996 and held that position until his retirement in 2024. “Judge Moore was a ‘no nonsense’ judge,” his obituary states. “He understood people and was willing to consider reasonable explanations for inexplicable actions, but never accepted ‘excuses.’ He had little tolerance for those committing theft and who failed to support their vulnerable children. Yet, he was fair, carefully weighing the evidence before him and rendering his decision. Judge Moore made people feel seen, valued, supported and encouraged, always accompanied by his unmistakable ‘dry sense of humor.’ His near eccentric flair for fashion made him the ‘best dressed’ Robeson County Judge.” Moore, a UNC Pembroke alumnus, also worked as an adjunct professor at the university from 1988 to 2006, and also at Robeson Community College from 1986 to 2004, primarily teaching business law at both. Moore graduated from UNCP in 1979, majoring in psychology, before attending law school at UNC Chapel Hill, graduating in 1985. Moore practiced law alongside Julian Pierce from 1985-89 and worked as an assistant district attorney for over seven years before becoming a judge. Moore, who was from the Prospect community, is also remembered as a family man. He is survived by two daughters, five grandchildren and other family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Brenda. Visitation is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Prospect Community Church before his funeral at the church at 3 p.m. Burial will follow at the Moore Family Cemetery in Maxton.
