Провайдер NEMR провёл трёхдневный лагерь для школьников, посвящённый телекоммуникациям и истории региона

GREEN CITY — Local internet service provider NEMR recently hosted five area students for Camp Connect, a three-day summer program focused on telecommunications careers and community history. The event took place Aug. 5-7 at NEMR facilities and featured Kasen Lindquist and Beau Snyder, both of Green City; Charlotte Tallman, of Downing; BradLee Campbell, of Unionville; and Hannah Magers, of Novinger. Participants toured NEMR facilities, took part in a hands-on fiber splicing demonstration and learned about the various roles required to deliver fiber internet to local communities. Students also toured the Green City Area Museum and the Green City Depot to learn about the history of the area and the communities NEMR serves. "Camp Connect was a great opportunity for us to connect with local students and give them an inside look at what we do at NEMR," NEMR General Manager Michele Gillespie said in a press release. "We enjoyed spending the week with these students and hope they left with a better understanding of telecommunications, technology and the career opportunities available right here in our communities." The schedule balanced educational sessions with team-building activities, problem-solving games and recreational events. Each participant received $200 and promotional items for taking part in the program. According to the release, NEMR remains committed to offering programs like Camp Connect to encourage students to explore technology, develop new skills and learn more about the industries that help keep rural communities connected.
