Legacy High School JROTC student presented with the Legion of Valor Bronze Award WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) - This morning at Legacy High School, a JROTC student was presented with the Legion of Valor Bronze Award. This national award is given to JROTC cadets who have shown they go above and beyond in achieving academic excellence. Although thousands of students across the nation are nominated for the award, only a select few earn it, and this year it went to Cadet Ryder Schmidt. Representatives from American Legion Post 169 joined in to present the award and congratulate Schmidt on his achievement. Schmidt shared that it was a massive achievement, but he was surprised to get the award. Cadet Schmidt said he originally joined JROTC to try and come out of his shell and improve his communication skills, and getting this award helped him feel like he’s been able to do just that.
