Бывшая ведущая Blue Peter Конни Хук отказалась от новых телефонов и одежды ради семьи

Konnie Huq's very simple life revealed from no phone to no new clothes in decades Former Blue Peter presenter Konniw Huq was a mainstay on television screens in the noughties but after taking a backseat in the showbiz circuit, she seems to enjoy the simpler life Konnie Huq was one of the most sought-after hosts in the UK in the noughties after making a breakthrough as a presenter on Blue Peter back in 1997. After her eleven-year run as host on the children’s entertainment programme came to an end in 2008, she featured on the likes of Your News, UK School Games, The Xtra Factor and Shocked Britain. In 2020, she also turned her hand to being a children’s author. She has since released four titles: Cookie and the Most Annoying Boy in the World, Cookie and the Most Annoying Girl in the World, Fearless Fairy Tales and Cookie and the Most Mysterious Mystery in the World. But after she gave birth to her two sons, Covey and Huxley, with husband Charlie Brooker, Konnie, 51, made a conscious decision to reduce her television commitments so she could focus on her family life. Let’s take a look at her simpler life, which includes not buying a new phone and not buying any new clothes in two decades… No new phones Konnie recently revealed she’s never purchased a new phone and relies on husband Charlie to give her his hand-me-downs when he upgrades to a better model. She told MailOnline: “My phone is always like my husband's old phone, and then my son has got my old phone. “So it just gets handed down and handed down essentially, so I never get a new phone, I just will get my husband's cast-offs essentially.'” It appears that Black Mirror creator Charlie is quite the opposite of his wife, as he loves to get the newest phones. She continued: “He is quite techie and will often be like, 'Oh, 16GB isn't good enough for me, it doesn't hold everything. I need 32GB,' whereas I'm sort of none the wiser’.” Despite being a known face, the mum-of-two doesn’t use social media and likens her technology habits to being “totally retro” as she prefers to speak on the phone rather than text. No new clothes in two decades Konnie previously admitted that she prefers to live a more sustainable life and, as a result, doesn’t like to buy new clothes. She expressed: “I am essentially a bit anti-consumerist, so I don't buy things. I haven't bought clothes in, say, the last 20 years – all those years I did on Blue Peter, you get clothes for the job anyway. “The older I get, the more comfy I feel in my own skin. So now, I'd rather be really unfashionable, but know people like me for me, rather than the clothes I wear. I'm much happier opting out.” In 2024, she launched a free climate crisis eBook called Children for Change, along with other authors, which is free to access for every UK primary school. The book contains stories, poems, and illustrations about many topics related to the environment, including fast fashion and measuring our carbon footprint. Family life Although she holds a record for being the longest-running female Blue Peter presenter ever and being at the peak of her presenting career, Konnie decided to consciously take a step back after becoming a mum. She previously recalled trying to juggle her work commitments with having her first child. Konnie told BBC News in 2019: "I did this show for Sky called King of the Nerds, which was a reality show looking for the world's biggest nerd, essentially, celebrating the geek, which is also what I'm about. "But anyway, I remember I'd had a baby. And I thought I could do this all. But it was filming in Chelmsford. So I couldn't [stay] overnight because I had a baby. And it meant I would be picked up from my house before the baby had woken, leave from London to get to Chelmsford at 05:30am, having expressed milk, get on the motorway, do the filming. “And I'd present some challenges and I'd be willing us to wrap because I had this half-hour window where I would miss rush hour. And I'd sometimes be sitting there exploding with milk, because you have to keep feeding the baby all day.” After filming for the show was over, Konnie said she consciously took a step back and wanted to spend time being a mum as the years when they’re children “don’t come back”.
