Katie Taylor’s mum, Bridget Taylor, has revealed what she really thinks of her new son-in-law, Sean McCavanagh. The champion boxer, 40, secretly married the real estate agent last year, and the couple now live in Connecticut with his five children from a previous relationship. Ahead of her final fight in Croke Park on September 5, Bridget spoke with EVOKE about Katie’s life outside the ring. Speaking about whether Sean had gotten the family approaval, Bridget told the outlet: “He fits into the family perfectly.” She described her son-in-law as “the most easy-going guy, ” a quality she appeared to suggest might good when married to Katie. “He’s just a lovely, lovely guy… they’re a great fit,” she added. Back in April, Katie revealed how her husband Sean McCavanagh really feels about the public’s interest in their relationship. Speaking about the interest surrounding their union, Katie said: “I think he’s quite shocked by the amount of coverage that it gets. He’s very camera-shy himself.” We work well together on that. We both don’t like the camera,” she told Evoke. “We have a great understanding of what this is all about. And we can tip in and out of the media when we want to, when we can.” The couple kept their marriage quiet before it hit headlines last summer. “We kept it under wraps for quite a bit, but obviously, the news eventually does come out, but it’s part and parcel of the job, I suppose,” she continued. “I still live a very quiet life. I think it’s important to keep a part of your life private, and it’s important to just be able to sit back and enjoy family life, without the cameras being around you as well.” Speaking about their home in Vernon, Connecticut, Katie said: “America is such a big country, so it is great to have the peace and quiet over there as well. “We’re living in a beautiful, very quiet area, which is fantastic. I like being anonymous and in a certain way I am when I am over there, but I get to come home quite often as well to see family. I get the best of both worlds, really. I’m very, very blessed.” While Katie loves her life over in the US, the Bray native confessed they have discussed a move back home to Ireland. “Yeah, absolutely [I would move home to Ireland]. I’ve spoken to my husband on a few occasions about that,” she said. “He’s definitely open to the possibility of moving here as well. We’ll see what happens in the future, but I love home, I love being surrounded by family, and I just love the Irish way. “I know the people so well as well. I think Bray would be the place for me. Although we did visit Killarney a few months ago, my husband absolutely loved Killarney.”
