Рэпер K Camp и Jacquees провели совместный концерт в Бирмингеме в рамках тура Us Over Dem

By Sym Posey | The Birmingham Times For more than a decade, Birmingham has been a familiar stop for Kristopher “K Camp” Campbell. On Thursday, Aug. 27, the Atlanta-born singer, rapper and producer returned to the Magic City, bringing R&B singer Jacquees along for their “Us Over Dem Tour” at Iron City. For K Camp, Birmingham is a city that has consistently returned the love. “I just feel like it’s good energy every time I come to the city,” K Camp told The Birmingham Times ahead of the show. Birmingham is more than just another stop on the tour. The artist said he has been returning to the Magic City because he has consistently felt the support of Alabama audiences. “They always show a lot of love in Alabama. I’ve been coming to Birmingham for a decade plus,” K Camp said. “But it’s always love when I come through. So I ain’t got no complaints.” That history was evident throughout the evening as K Camp and Jacquees delivered a show built around two distinct but complementary sounds. K Camp, who describes his style as “Trap&B,” brought the energy, moving between melodic R&B and hip-hop with a set designed to keep the crowd engaged. Jacquees, meanwhile, leaned into his R&B roots, providing the smoother, more romantic counterbalance. It was the kind of pairing K Camp promised before taking the stage. “Que is more on the R&B. I’m more Trap&B,” he said. “I’m gonna turn them up, [Jacquees will] slow them down.” Before the show, K Camp promised Birmingham he would bring a “vibe” to the city, taking the crowd on an “emotional roller coaster” of turning up and slowing things down. By the end of the night, he had more than delivered on that promise. The result was the “emotional roller coaster” he envisioned — a performance that shifted between high-energy moments and slower, more intimate ones. The tour also represents something new for K Camp. After spending much of his career touring as a solo act, “Us Over Dem” marks his first joint tour with another established artist. “It’s something different,” he said. “On all my other tours, I’ve been out solo.” K Camp described working alongside Jacquees as both enjoyable and relatively seamless, praising his tourmate as a talented artist who has earned respect throughout the industry. While the tour celebrates where K Camp has been, the artist is equally focused on where he is going. After more than a decade in the music business, K Camp said the current era of his career is defined by maturity, growth and intentionality. “Way more mature. A lot of growth, a lot more knowledge,” he said. “Real intentional, more how I present myself, and just what I stand for.” That growth has extended into his creative process. K Camp has added producing to his repertoire, giving him another avenue to shape his sound as he continues looking for ways to evolve. “I’m always trying things to enhance my sound and take it to a new height,” he said. And while earning a No. 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 remains an ambition, K Camp’s motivation has grown beyond chart placement. “I want to make sure I do something that’s so powerful that can feed my family for a couple generations,” he said. That perspective added another layer to Thursday night’s performance. This wasn’t simply an artist revisiting his hits or touring for nostalgia. K Camp is still pushing, still experimenting and still looking toward the next milestone. For Birmingham, that meant witnessing an artist who has spent more than a decade returning to the city while continuing to redefine what comes next. And if K Camp’s goal was to leave Birmingham with a vibe, he and Jacquees accomplished just that.
