Комиссар Джефферсонского округа Джо Найт рассказал членам клуба «Ротари» о истории муниципалитетов округа

Jefferson County Commissioner Joe Knight shares Trussville history Published 2:16 am Thursday, August 13, 2026 Jefferson County Commissioner and Trussville Daybreak Rotarian Joe Knight took fellow Rotary members on a journey through the history of the communities that make up his district during the Trussville Daybreak Rotary Club’s weekly meeting on August 5. Knight opened with a brief update on Jefferson County’s budget process before presenting a historical overview of the 14 municipalities he represents. His presentation traced the development of each community from its earliest settlers through the arrival of railroads, mining operations and incorporation into cities. Along the way, Knight shared the origins of community names, notable historical landmarks and the events that shaped many of Jefferson County’s municipalities, including Trussville. He concluded by recounting a defining moment in Trussville’s history during the Civil War, when local citizens rallied to extinguish a fire set by Wilson’s Raiders at the Confederate storehouse. Knight said the story reflects the resilience and cooperative spirit that continue to characterize the Trussville community today. “Joe’s presentation reminded us that understanding our local history helps us better appreciate the communities we serve,” said Trussville Daybreak Rotary Club President Jim Kirkland. “We’re proud to have him as both a Jefferson County Commissioner and a fellow Daybreak Rotarian.” The Trussville Daybreak Rotary Club meets at First Baptist Church Trussville on Wednesdays at 7 a.m. The club welcomes community leaders and guests interested in fellowship, leadership and service through Rotary’s motto, Service Above Self.
