Несмотря на критику фанатов, Jaguar Type 01 получил поддержку NVIDIA

A Jaguar fan called the Type 01 "horrific" in the comments of the automaker's own LinkedIn post. Another called it "never to be repeated," apparently unaware the car makes nearly double the horsepower of the Jaguar he was comparing it to. Jaguar has a noise problem online right now. It also has NVIDIA. Spending no more than one minute on LinkedIn today, I found a comment on a post by Autofolio about the Jaguar XE Project 8 (which is a terrific car) from Steve that said, “Amazing. Never to be repeated. Such a shame to see what happened to the brand too.” In a posting that was about a brilliant car created by Jaguar that is rapidly becoming a collector’s car, there was that sideswipe at the Type 01. Another comment by Gary on a post from Jaguar said, “Jaguar forgot what Jaguars are meant to be. This “modern” twist on a classic car brand is horrific.” There are many more along these lines as well. The Numbers Don't Support the Nostalgia It seems to be the vogue to criticize the Type 01 right now. The comment from Steve above saying, “Never to be repeated,” would appear slightly misinformed as the Jaguar XE Project 8 had 600PS (591 bhp) whereas the Type 01 uses a tri-motor power source producing in excess of 1,000 bhp. Gary’s comments are interesting as well as Jaguar has changed its appearance over the years as well from the XK120, through the XJ series and now to the Type 01 - all different cars, different appearances. It seems as though people have their own ideas of what a Jaguar means to them. I’ve followed Jaguar for many years and I can’t recall a time when they have launched a car in to such a noisy, opinionated arena. I don’t think I’d be misrepresenting the situation if I said that the larger proportion of that noise is negative. Right now, Jaguar needs friends and it seems as though those friends are making themselves known. NVIDIA Just Showed Up in Person On its way to Monterey Car Week, the Jaguar Type 01 made a special visit to NVIDIA. Receiving a warm, excited welcome the board and employees at NVIDIA were able to see the Jaguar Type 01, albeit in its blue disguise. Along with a Jaguar E-Type, the Type 01 was viewed with intrigued and what appears to be genuine interest looking at the video clip. Some were allowed to sit in the car itself whereas others were given a presentation of its features. A $5 Trillion Company Doesn't Partner Lightly It wasn’t the visit as such that was important (although the NVIDIA employees who there will disagree I’m sure!), it’s the fact that NVIDIA are involved with Jaguar. In NVIDIA, Jaguar has a powerful ally. NVIDIA are one of the biggest tech companies in the world with a net worth estimated at over $5 Trillion. They will want to forge mutually beneficial partnerships with other companies and for Jaguar having them as a partner does send a signal out that the big players are liking what they see. NVIDIA is developing its DRIVE AGX artificial intelligence system in partnership with Jaguar Land Rover. The system is leading towards a greater level of automation, digital updates and, intriguingly, AI based safety systems makes JLR’s strategy become clearer. They are wanting a high-end, low-volume model that will be top of its class in every area. It will have class-leading performance, class-leading interior architecture and class-leading technology. Having a partner like NVIDIA provides that expertise that will be crucial in achieving this and give real credibility to the car. It’s this sort of confidence from gigantic corporations in Jaguar’s operation that should make people consider their comments before easily dismissing the hard work put into the car by JLR. It’s also worth noting that Jaguar was a marque that the automated car firm Waymo chose to partner with nearly ten years ago because the Jaguar I-Pace was seen as the complete package for their needs: good range, fast charging batteries and a spacious environment for passengers. JLR is trying something radically different with the Jaguar Type 01 and as the launch dates draws ever closer, it would appear that Jaguar’s friends are letting both Jaguar and the wider community know that they are standing by them. After all, everyone needs a friend don’t they? In the corporate world, technological world NVIDIA are a pretty decent friend to have. Online criticism is loud, but it isn't the only signal that matters. NVIDIA didn't have to show up in Monterey with the Type 01. It chose to, and it's staking its own name on the partnership working. Does a partnership with a company like NVIDIA change how you see the Type 01, or is the car going to have to win people over on its own merits regardless of who's standing behind it? And if the Type 01 genuinely outperforms cars like the Project 8 on paper, does that change the "Jaguar forgot what Jaguars are meant to be" argument, or is this really about looks and not numbers at all?
