Песни Jade LeMac вошли в третий сезон сериала My Life with the Walter Boys

Jade LeMac’s relationship with My Life with the Walter Boys cannot be reduced to a single sync. Across two seasons, the Netflix series has given several of her songs a new context and introduced different parts of her catalog to a global audience. Season 3 features four songs from her 2025 EP “It’s Always at Night,” including “Running Home,” “Intertwined,” “Sleeping with the Lights On,” and “Sweet Dreams.” The sync has marked a significant turning point for the track, driving a fivefold increase in streams and propelling “Running Home” to new performance peaks across multiple international markets in 2026. The connection began with “Constellations,” a song LeMac wrote at 16 that appeared in the show’s first season. Its placement carried the deeply personal track beyond the queer community that had initially embraced it, helping LeMac recognize that listeners could find their own meanings in her music. Returning to the series with four songs is not simply a repetition of that earlier success. It reveals how the show has grown alongside her catalog and evolving artistic identity. This moment finds LeMac looking back at how far she has come while deciding what should come next. Performing at Madison Square Garden represents an important milestone, but it also exists alongside the pressure to follow a breakthrough. Still, she does not want success to become a formula. Throughout this conversation, LeMac returns to the importance of authenticity as she considers how far her music has traveled and the kind of artist she wants to become. How are you feeling at this point in your career? What do your recent achievements mean to you when you look back at everything you have accomplished so far? I'm really happy with where I am right now. I recently crossed a few things off my bucket list, including performing at venues people dream of playing. I'm making music that I love, so I feel very grateful and proud of where I am, and I'm excited to continue. Sometimes I get caught up because I'm so busy. After the first night at Madison Square Garden, I came offstage, saw my mom, and cried. I remember thinking, "This is so cool." I sometimes forget to step back and look at everything I've done, so it's amazing when I allow myself to think about it. You wrote "Constellations" when you were 16. What do you remember about who you were at the time and the emotions you wanted to express through the song? I originally wanted it to be more R&B and darker than it ended up being. It was the first song I wrote that felt a little inappropriate and explored intimacy, which was very different for me, but also really fun. I didn't think about it in a very deep way when I first wrote it, and I don't think I understood its deeper meaning until later, especially after seeing so many people share their interpretations. At the time, I was just having fun, so it's crazy to see what it has become. "Constellations" found a new audience after appearing in the first season of My Life with the Walter Boys. What was it like to realize that millions of people were discovering such a personal song through the series? It was crazy to watch. The show did so much for the song, and we never expected it to have that kind of impact. So many people discovered it, especially people outside the audience I had before. Before that, I had mainly promoted it as an LGBTQ+ song because I'm part of that community. After the show, it reached a completely different audience, and that was when I started to realize that music really is for everyone. The series used the piano version of "Constellations" in a particularly cinematic scene. What did the placement reveal to you about the connection between the song and the show's story? It was placed perfectly and beautifully. I remember them riding a horse at sunset, and the scene was so cinematic. They used the piano version of "Constellations," which made everything even more beautiful. I remember thinking, "Wow, this is perfect placement." Four songs from “It's Always at Night” are featured in the third season. How did you react when you learned that your music would return to the series? I was so excited because many people found me through ‘My Life with the Walter Boys’ and through what I posted on TikTok. Being able to return and have four of my songs included in another season is so cool. They created beautiful placements for all of them, and two are connected to particularly big scenes, which is amazing. Your songs often explore vulnerability with considerable emotional honesty. What needs to happen before you trust a personal experience enough to turn it into a song? It's different every time I write. Some songs aren't based on my own experiences, so I have to get into character, use my imagination, and write from a perspective I haven't actually lived. When a song is vulnerable and comes directly from me, it can be quite easy to write. There comes a point when I realize, "I've been feeling this way for a while, and it's finally hitting me. I need to let it out somehow." Then I put it into a song. After the impact of "Constellations," do you feel pressure when writing new music, or can you still create without thinking about repeating that success? The pressure is always there. Unfortunately, that's how the industry works. But I'm trying to stay in a space where I create what I love. That's what I did with "Constellations." I've tried to write hits and make songs other people think will be successful, but I've learned that if I stay true to myself and write songs I like, I'll enjoy the process more. I'll probably promote them better because I enjoy them, and I'll sing them better live because my energy will be stronger. Overall, I've learned that authenticity is probably the best approach. As you begin this new chapter, what would you like people to understand about you beyond "Constellations," and how are you shaping its sound and visual identity? With this new project, I really dug deep into what I want everything to look and sound like. We've been working on new music that leans more into darker R&B and hip-hop, which is a big part of me, alongside my singer-songwriter side. I'm also really enjoying the new look: the slicked-back hair and the all-white outfits, while still keeping a Rick Owens-esque feel with the ties and other details. I've always had a particular sense of style, even when I was younger, and I took a lot of inspiration from what my dad would wear. I'm now at a point where I feel comfortable and confident in what I'm wearing. Although every song carries a different meaning, which ones feel especially important to you right now? I have to include "Constellations" simply because it's "Constellations." "Sleeping with the Lights On" and "Sweet Dreams" are tied; they're almost combined in my head, if that makes sense. Both feel very much like me and are very vulnerable, especially "Sleeping with the Lights On." I also love "Aimed to Kill." It was one of the first songs that made me think, "This is so sick." It represents a lot of my darker side. But I love every song in a different way. What are you currently working on, and what can you share about "Prettier With Your Mask Off" and the direction of your next project? I've been performing an unreleased song called "Prettier With Your Mask Off," and I'm really excited about it. We've been working on many new songs for a new project. I don't know too much about it yet because it's still in the works, but I absolutely love that song, and it has been so much fun to perform. It returns to a darker R&B and hip-hop sound with a vibe reminiscent of The Weeknd’s earlier work, which I love. I want to dig deeper into that because it feels like a big part of who I am. Do you have a mantra or phrase that helps you express gratitude or get through difficult moments? YOLO (You only live once). When I get into a moment where I feel like I need to lock in, I remind myself of that. I'm never completely serious, and I think I get through things by being unserious. That's what I would say. For LeMac, the experience of “Constellations” serves as a reminder that the music capable of creating the strongest and most lasting connection is often made without trying to predict what the industry or the audience wants. That principle is now leading her toward a darker sound influenced by R&B and hip-hop, as well as a more defined visual identity that reflects the confidence she has developed both onstage and off. Her next chapter is already taking shape through new music, including the still-unreleased “Prettier With Your Mask Off,” which is now available to pre-save and has already become part of her live shows. As her music reaches wider audiences and takes her to stages such as Madison Square Garden, her approach to pressure remains unexpectedly simple. She embraces a “YOLO” mindset, using humor to avoid letting expectations consume her or compromise the freedom and authenticity that have brought her this far.
