В Марианне торжественно открыли памятник Эндрю Джексону в честь 204-летия округа

Jackson County marks its 204th birthday with Andrew Jackson Statue Unveiling JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A statue of Andrew Jackson was unveiled Friday at Madison Street Park in Marianna as Jackson County marked its 204th birthday. The statue honors the man Jackson County was named after in 1822. It is also part of Gov. Ron DeSantis’ statewide initiative to place historical statues and monuments across Florida ahead of America’s 250th anniversary. Jackson’s connection to Florida predates his presidency. He served as the state’s first territorial governor before reaching the White House. Florida Secretary of State Cord Byrd said the statue is intended to teach the state’s history and recognize those who helped shape it. “We’re going to celebrate the whole year; we think it’s important to not just give credit to the founding fathers, the founding generation 250 years ago,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. Also to remind our current generation that we’re fortunate to have this great inheritance of Liberty and that we have a duty to preserve it and make it live on for another 250 years.” Byrd also noted that Andrew Jackson made history during the 1828 presidential election, which recorded the highest voter turnout rate at the time.
