Look Into My Eyes revolves around former North Port High School principal Dr George Kenney, in Sarasota, Florida. To try and help his students with test anxiety and their athletic performances, Kenney hypnotised teens with clips showing him doing one-to-one sessions, as well as in front of classes. It's been reported that Kenney hypnotised around 70 of his students during a five-year span. But when three of his 16-year-old students died one month after another after being hypnotised by him, an investigation was launched. No charges in respect of the deaths were brought against Kenney who accepted a plea deal of a misdemeanour charge of practising hypnosis without a licence. The families of the three students received $200,000 as part of a wrongful death legal settlement with spokesman for Sarasota County Schools stating that it was "mutually acceptable" and "in the best interests of all parties involved". NBC News reported that the families said they were "satisfied with the overall outcome, although this is a very hollow victory". Look Into My Eyes explores the “events leading up to their untimely deaths and the tragic aftermath” as those involved try to unpack what really happened." In the trailer for the "bizarre" true crime doc, a parent of one of the deceased teens is heard tearily claiming: “This man has ruined my life." Meanwhile, another man, also teary-eyed, simply states: “This man just wanted to help.” Look Into My Eyes debuts on Tuesday, August 18, on ITVX.
