Batch is a Vancouver success story.  The restaurant/bar/hangout spot first launched at the Plaza of Nations, which had been absolutely begging for something (anything) to fill its vast emptiness for years. Then the concept hit the deck above Kits Pool, complete with food from the beloved DownLow Chicken Shack. If our sources are correct, the team at Batch has identified a third Vancouver location—a pop-up spot at Trout Lake, just behind the beach area on the south side of the lake and facing right onto the non-swimmable but still shimmery pond. It would make a lot of sense, given Batch's previous work with the city in Kits. A few different sources have reported this scoop to the Straight, and we can confirm that there are tables and chairs set up in what appear to be very Batch-like fashion at the moment. (Look at those hanging lights! Check those patio chairs!) One source confirmed that the pop-up would open Friday, August 14, and stay open “until the end of summer”. Which, in Vancouver, can really mean anything. Our efforts to confirm this news with Batch founder John Negrin were left unanswered. Tomorrow, we found out for sure. See you there? UPDATE: Shocker—we were right! There's still not a ton of information online but Batch's Trout Lake pop-up is now open.
