A two-day trade event in Houston brought together Indian exporters, U.S. importers, distributors, and retailers to promote Indian mangoes and other agricultural products in the Texas market.
The "Mango Festival India Showcase" was organised by the Consulate General of India in Houston in collaboration with the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Houston (IACCGH) and the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), with support from the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO).
The program combined business-to-business meetings at the Indian Consulate with a public business-to-consumer showcase at Keemat Store in Houston, allowing retailers and distributors to assess consumer interest.
Consul General D.C. Manjunath said: "We want to make India's trade ecosystem as accessible as possible. I encourage industry leaders to use the India–USA Trade Portal as a direct gateway to trusted suppliers."
Jagdip Ahluwalia, Executive Director and founder of IACCGH, said: "Houston is the logistical heart of the American South. We are connecting Texas infrastructure with Indian export capabilities to build steady, high-volume supply chains."
The program also included a discussion on logistics and trade infrastructure with ITPO Managing Director Neeraj Kharwal and a presentation by APEDA Deputy General Manager C.B. Singh.
The second day focused on consumer engagement through tastings of Indian mango varieties including Kesar, Chausa, Langra, and Banganapalli. According to organisers, the event attracted both members of the South Asian community and consumers trying Indian mangoes for the first time.
Manjunath said: "The first day brought exporters and importers together. On the second day, we partnered with the grocery venue to bring Houstonians a taste of select varieties."
Officials said they plan to expand the range of Indian agricultural products promoted in the region, including pomegranates, apples, organic honey, and Kashmiri saffron.
According to the Consulate General of India, the event also showcased mango-based products and Basmati rice as part of India's agricultural export offering.
The Houston event follows similar mango promotion programs organised earlier this month in Seattle, New York, and Washington.
