Полиция Индианаполиса ввела 10-часовые смены как постоянную модель патрулирования

IMPD adopts 10-hour schedules as permament patrol model INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department’s officers will now permanently be on their patrol schedules for 10 hours at a time. The department announced Wednesday morning that it has voted to adopt the 10-hour schedule after an almost yearlong pilot period. The longer schedules were first proposed in 2025 and passed in September. The pilot period shifts rolled out on Jan. 3. Former IMPD Chief Chris Bailey says officers were given scheduling options for the 10-hour shifts: Work for five days and get three days off, or work four days and get four days off. The IMPD Public Information Office said Wednesday the pilot period “offered valuable insight into how the 10-hour model strengthens operations, supports officer wellness, and enhances service to the community.” “Moving forward, our commitment remains clear: to support our officers and deliver the highest level of service to Indianapolis,” IMPD said. IMPD’s full statement After nearly a year of piloting 10‑hour shifts, IMPD officers have voted to adopt the 10‑hour schedule as the permanent model for patrol. This pilot period, made possible by the collective bargaining agreement between the City of Indianapolis and the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), offered valuable insight into how the 10‑hour model strengthens operations, supports officer wellness, and enhances service to our community. The flexibility and thoughtful feedback officers shared throughout the process has been essential in helping us understand the impact of this new schedule on both our officers and our community. Moving forward, our commitment remains clear: to support our officers and deliver the highest level of service to Indianapolis. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Public Information Office
