Комикс Cracked предсказал гибель «Футурамы» в пользу мрачных сериалов еще в 1999 году

This 1999 Futurama Comic Mocking “Tragic TV Trend,” as Relevant for the Show’s 14th Season as it was in the 90s The strip isn’t coming for Futurama. It’s standing beside it, pointing at the TV landscape and saying, “Look at this place. They are going to cancel the one show that knows how to tell jokes.” This setup tells you everything you need to know. Television was jammed with cop dramas, medical dramas, and teen dramas, which sounds dated until you turn on a streaming service and find 47 prestige series about a sad detective treating his childhood trauma with whiskey. Futurama was the oddball. So Cracked does the obvious thing. It imagines the show getting crushed by the network machine and replaced by “Futuredrama,” because TV executives have a soft spot in their hearts for the act of looking at a funny show and thinking, “What if this had fewer jokes and a corpse?” The parody throws Futurama’s characters into the same b(l)ender of sci-fi references and terrible jobs that makes the actual show work. It’s affectionate sabotage. Like your friend drawing devil horns on your yearbook photo. Cracked’s take aged surprisingly well because it sees what makes the show worth keeping around. Futurama can be gross, dumb, sentimental, and smart, often in the same scene. It makes space jokes but never forgets that the real horror of the future is still having to make deliveries, deal with your coworkers, and pretend your boss is a reasonable person and not an out-of-its-mind alien or senseless robot.
