Creative spaces across Aotearoa: Places to try pottery, weaving and more. Photo / Neat Places Discover Aotearoa’s hidden creative spaces, and find inspiration for your next mindful hobby – or holiday In a world increasingly dominated by screen time, many New Zealanders are seeking out something more tangible. Pottery classes are filling up months in advance, knitting needles are clicking back into fashion, andcreative workshops are becoming social occasions in their own right. Across Aotearoa, a growing number of spaces are encouraging people to slow down, make something with their hands, and discover the simple satisfaction of creating rather than doomscrolling. From pottery wheels in Christchurch to weaving looms in Wellington and wool shops in Central Otago, these places prove that creativity isn’t reserved for artists – it’s for anyone willing to give something new a go. Central Otago: Do it yourself In Clyde, Touch Yarns is a reminder that some hobbies never truly go out of style – and that there’s nothing better than the satisfaction of a self-made jumper.
