Hilton’s first property in Zimbabwe will bring Hilton Garden Inn’s upscale focused-service hospitality to Harare’s Highlands Precinct Hilton (NYSE: HLT) today announced the signing of Hilton Garden Inn Harare Highlands in partnership with Terrace Africa, marking Hilton’s entry into Zimbabwe and the debut of its award-winning upscale focused-service brand, Hilton Garden Inn, in the country. The announcement took place at ZimReal, Zimbabwe’s leading property investment forum. Expected to open in early 2029, the hotel will be located within the Highlands Precinct, a mixed-use development by Terrace Africa bringing together offices, retail, dining, residences, hotels and conferencing facilities. Set in one of Harare’s established residential and diplomatic districts, approximately 20 to 25 kilometres from Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport, the property will provide convenient access to key commercial, diplomatic, and cultural destinations across the city. Carlos Khneisser, Chief Development Officer, Middle East & Africa, Hilton, said: “Entering Zimbabwe marks an important milestone in Hilton’s continued expansion across Africa and reflects our confidence in the country’s long-term hospitality potential. With Zimbabwe welcoming more than 1.7 million international arrivals in 2025[1] and Harare serving as a key commercial, diplomatic and regional gateway, we see strong opportunity to bring Hilton Garden Inn to a market where demand from business and leisure travellers continues to grow. We are proud to partner with Terrace Africa to introduce Hilton Garden Inn’s bright service, thoughtful amenities, and dependable guest experience to Harare.” Hilton Garden Inn Harare Highlands will feature 140 rooms and suites, designed to offer business and leisure travellers upscale, affordable accommodation with modern amenities. Guests will be able to enjoy a range of facilities including an all-day dining restaurant with a terrace, a lobby café and bar, a gym and a pool with terrace, and meeting rooms, creating spaces for guests to work, meet, dine and unwind within the property. Brett Abrahamse, Director, Terrace Africa, said: “Our Highlands Precinct has been designed as a connected urban destination that reflects Harare’s growth and evolving lifestyle needs. Partnering with Hilton to introduce its first hotel in Zimbabwe is a defining milestone for the precinct and reinforces our ambition to create high-quality, mixed-use environments that serve residents, businesses and visitors alike. Together, we are bringing a globally recognised hospitality brand to a destination designed for the future of the city.” The signing builds on Hilton’s strong momentum across Africa, where the global hospitality company currently has more than 70 trading hotels and over 100 in the pipeline, more than half of which are located in Sub-Saharan Africa.
