Heritage room honors former House Speaker Billy McCoy BOONEVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) – A dedicated room is honoring former state representative and House Speaker William J. “Billy” McCoy. Northeast Mississippi Community College unveiled the William J. “Billy” McCoy Mississippi Heritage Room during a ribbon-cutting ceremony at its Eula Dees Memorial Library. The room features more than three decades of legislative documents, McCoy’s session chair, and memorabilia from his 32 years representing northeast Mississippi in the state House. McCoy’s daughter, Kim Eubank, spoke at the ceremony. “He loves the body of Mississippi House of Representatives,” she said. “That was his passion. He never wanted to do anything else but serve there, but he loves home, and Northeast was home.” The heritage room will serve as a permanent display of McCoy’s career in the state legislature.
