Hell Let Loose: Vietnam is off to a decent start since its launch on August 13th, but several frustrating issues have made it difficult for players to properly work together. Luckily, Expression Games have just deployed Patch 1.4, which includes over 200 fixes, rectifying two of the most reported problems: distorted prox chat and recon and flare markers that won't go away.
These aren't the only problems that players have been encountering whilst engaging in adrenaline-pumping guerrilla warfare, but with any luck, this could be the layer of polish that turns Hell Let Loose: Vietnam into the absolute gem that warfare fanatics knew it could be.
Hell Let Loose: Vietnam Now Has a Clear Path to Victory
Never underestimate the power of the gaming community. In this age, players jumping into these virtual worlds now have the opportunity to speak directly to the developers, which, when you think about it, is pretty amazing.
This open line of communication is extremely beneficial for both sides; devs get crucial feedback to make improvements, and players receive a better overall experience, so long as their feedback is acted upon.
In the case of Hell Let Loose: Vietnam, despite some technical issues, official reviews show this game has the magic needed to keep FPS fans hooked for the long run.
In the DualShockers review, written by Jaime Tugayev, the excellent map design and satisfying gunplay are just two examples of the game's many strong points that contributed to the very respectable 8/10 score the game received from Tugayev, who is extremely well-versed in the genre. "This is the best Vietnam War shooter I've played since the glory days of Vietcong in 2003."
While Hell Let Loose: Vietnam definitely has the X factor, with intense gameplay, massive 50vs50 battles, and role and squad design that allow players to settle into their preferred playstyle, it's clear the game was still in dire need of a tune-up in order to reach it's full potential; but Patch 1.4 appears to be fixing the bulk of the issues.
This could be the layer of polish that turns Hell Let Loose: Vietnam into the absolute gem that warfare fanatics knew it could be.
Here are some of the main fixes and improvements introduced in Hell Let Loose: Vietnam Patch 1.4:
- Proximity chat distortion fixed
- Persistent recon and flare markers fixed
- DLSS 4.5 support added
- Resource nodes now displayed on 3D tactical map
- Issue resulting in career levels being reset to level 1 has been fixed
- Helicopter aiming and inversion have been separated
- Long list of quality-of-life improvements, including UI, HUD, and squad communications improvements
While the main focus of this patch was to ensure players can properly communicate with one another by fixing the persistent recon and flare markers, as well as the prox chat problems, Expression Games is going above and beyond.
As stated in the developers' community update #2, "Work is also continuing on the wider audio experience. This includes ongoing improvements to audio directionality as well as further balancing across different sounds on the battlefield. These improvements will continue to be introduced incrementally through future updates."
What's Next for Hell Let Loose: Vietnam
When we see this number of changes being made to a game within weeks of launch, with the majority of the issues highlighted by the community, there's one main takeaway: the devs are listening.
When teamwork between players and devs is in full force, great things happen, and amazing gameplay is created, and it's safe to say things are only going to get better from here on out for HLL: Vietnam.
Expression Games has already revealed a detailed roadmap, stating new weapons, maps, vehicles, and music are on the way, "This roadmap represents the next stage of Hell Let Loose: Vietnam, but our work doesn’t stop with the content you see here. Throughout the remainder of 2026, into 2027 and beyond, we’ll continue listening to your feedback, addressing issues, improving performance and stability, and building upon the foundations of the game."
