Канадская система CPIC объединяет полицейские базы данных всей страны

Headline history: Canadian police information system links computers across country Published 10:28 am Friday, August 14, 2026 Since being established in 1973, the Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) has only grown, linking police, and Canadians, across the country. In an article about the system, published in the News Bulletin on Aug. 12, 1999, it was praised for being used to return elderly and lost individuals to their families, a part of its function of sharing information between police agencies. Some of this information includes data on all persons who are of “special interest,” including missing, unidentified bodies, wanted, on probation or under surveillance. A common use of the system is criminal record checks, which involve the police using a name-based search. Today, it is also used by members of the public to search for property or motor vehicles that have been reported stolen, ensuring used products they purchase have not come from illegal means. People can search serial numbers for potentially-stolen goods on the CPIC website https://cpic-cipc.ca/index-eng.htm.
